décor, size and even the shape or extremely important and can affect the design

appearance of homes interior design.

1. Its function:

when designing a living room, the architect or the designer must always keep in mind

the needs of the occupants who are living in the home. This room can serve many

purposes, it can be an entertainment center a social room and, in some cases, even a

dining center. Its specific function depends on the living habits of the residents.

of a home. In smaller residences however, the entrance may be open directly into the

living room. This design should be avoided wherever possible since the living room and

When planning window locations in your living room you must also consider the various

seasonal changes in the landscape as well as the features of the property.

Although the windows themselves can be a decorative item the primary function of the

window is to:

1. Admit light into the room.

2. Provide a pleasant view of the landscape.

If the views from the window are unpleasant or was restricted by other buildings

translucent glass is often used to allow natural light to enter the living room without

showing any unwanted views.

3. Its size and shape:

Ideally when designing a living room, the type and the amount of living room furniture

should be determined preferably before the size of the living room is established.

One of the most difficult aspects of planning the size and shape of a living room as with

any other room is to provide sufficient wall space for the effective placement of the

furniture.

A continuous wall space is needed for the placement of many kinds of furniture

especially sofas, large televisions, and coffee tables.

The placement of the fireplace, and doors openings to other rooms need to be planned

thoughtfully to conserve as much wall space as possible for furniture placement.

To assure that the room will accommodate the necessary furniture, templates or made

with the appropriate size of each furniture. The room plan is scaled to represents the
