It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to TechCon North America 2015. This is our 20th

TechCon North America and our 47th TechCon Worldwide. TechCon®

Worldwide Conferences are held annually in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom and attract an international collection

of delegates, presenters and exhibitors. The annual cumulative attendance reaches nearly 700 people from more than 60 countries.

TechCon North America was first held in 1996 in New Orleans, Louisiana. It has since moved around the United States, accommodating the growing number of delegates and Host Utilities.

It is particularly significant that TechCon North America will be held in Sacramento with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, SMUD, as the Host Utility. It was 43 years ago that SMUD initiated a research project at California State University, Sacramento to develop dissolved gas analysis. That project led to the formation of Analytical Associates, Inc., followed by TJ|H2b Analytical Services and the TechCon Conferences. None of us would be attending this conference today were it not for SMUD’s commitment to safety, reliability and innovation.

A great amount of time and effort goes into organizing a conference and I would first like to thank our enthusiastic planning committee, whose efforts are essential for building the technical program; their work this year has been excellent. I also want to thank the unnamed members of the conference planning team who have worked diligently to deliver a very successful event.

Most significantly, I want to thank everyone attending the conference: the sponsors, our exhibitors, our presenters, who often prepare this material on their own time, out of their dedication to this industry, and all of our delegates for whom this conference is organized.

Great success to all of you!

— Dave Hanson, President
