...encouraging girls in science, engineering & technology
“It’s like we planted a seed when we invited girls to participate in Techbridge. Suddenly they believe they have what it
takes to be a leader.”
F ounded by Chabot Space & Science Center in 2000, Techbridge promotes girls’ engagement in technology, engineering and science. Techbridge offers innovative hands-on projects, role models and
worksite visits to promote career exploration, and academic and career guidance. Recognizing the importance of building a network of support for girls, Techbridge provides trainings and resources for teachers, role models and families.
Techbridge programs include:
After-school and summer programs: Techbridge has reached over 2,800 girls in under-resourced communities in and around Oakland
Girls Go Techbridge: Working in partnership with Girl Scout Councils across the country, Techbridge offers programs-in-a-box with curricula and training to bring science and engineering to thousands of girls
Scale-up: Techbridge is developing a scale-up model to replicate the after-school programs
