PANOPTO• Wanted to use videos for website and online courses
• Liked the option of being able to voice over PowerPoint presentations as well as share the screen
• Student response to shared screen was positive. They felt connected to instructor.
• Ability to download Panopto video to MP4 and upload to YouTube
• Note to self: Be sure to adjust quality of video when transferring over to YouTube

TOOLS & RECOMMENDATIONS
• Get a headset with a microphone
• Logitech H390 USB Wired PC Headset - $29.99
• You will need a camera for your computer
• Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 - $69.99
• Write a script a head of time before recording self
• Be sure to post a sign outside of door “Recording in Process”
• As this is recording everything, be sure you have pop-up reminders turned off

PROS• Easy to set up • Transfers easily into Canvas • OIT is always available to help• Able to add captions • Students are able to see what is coming up
CONS• Recording is nerve wracking • Editing takes time• Mess up and you have to re-record
WEBEX • Department was searching for tool that hosted live web conferencing
• Hosts up to 100 callers per meeting
• Easily app to download to mobile phones
• Interacting is easy for participants
• Provides survey information for assessments
• Department uses it for virtual employer panels, virtual career fairs, and web
conference calls with colleagues
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL CAREER FAIR?
• In Spring 2016, CAPD hosted six employers with both internships and FT job opportunities• Each employer conducted a live, 30-60 minute session• Encouraged to use a slide deck and submit it a head of time• CAPD introduced speaker and moderated questions• It was a 2-person team needed to manage the fair
WHY WE CHOSE WEBEX
1. Free with university subscription 2. Training was available through OIT 3. Pre Set-Up event link that could be
advertised4. Could pre-load employer slide deck
and screen share was available 5. Career staff, employers, and
students/alumni all had different access levels
6. Ability to download presentation/fair/call and upload to YouTube
TECHNOLOGY SET-UP
Hosted Virtual Fair on our university Wordpress Blog Listed the following details on the blog page:
• Event links
• Schedule of events
• Description of employers and positions available
• Later posted video onto page for future views
Used WebEx Event center option vs. Meeting Center option
• Could pre-schedule the event with uploaded Employer PowerPoint
• Ability to provide varied access
• Developed email templates to invite employers, students and alumni with registration questions
• Record sessions for later download
• Ability to create post-event survey questions which are housed for 3
months

PROS• Runs smoothly• Captures assessment information • Hosts polling and annotation tools • Mobile friendly • Ability to send multiple reminders and
post-surveys • Allows for screen sharing, recording,
desktop and document sharing, and has a whiteboard feature
CONS
• Can be nerve wracking even for the technically savvy• Survey information is only hosted for 3
months and then is erased• Students have to download the program
to their computers or the app to their phone to participate
