Tech Recruitment Strategy
Overview
When one of Detroit’s hottest companies was launching a spin off company that involved drones. They had an amazing open culture, complete with a
newly renovated office boasting playful colors, stocked with snacks and arcade games. For their
new company, they were looking to double their size from 100 to 200.
Problem
With the launch of their new drone company, this company needed a
hot recruiting strategy to attract top tech talent. With a distinct “We’re hiring badasses” slogan already in
place they were looking for something that attracted talented people fueled by innovation and
change. While their offices were in a prime location, they were
competing against much larger companies that have national
Solution
Taking the marketing collateral this company already had in place, the idea for our solution fell
from the sky… literally. The company was located in a busy park of downtown Detroit where working
professionals packed the lawns to lunch. We made creative origami parachutes featuring our open
positions that would be dropped by the drones to passive candidates in the park. We also took our
strategy to a park in Ann Arbor where lots of techies dwell.
Outcome
After a few successful lunch drops and lots of people posting about it on their social media feeds, the
number of applicants increased by 78%! Not only did they notice an increase of applicants, the company was impressed that the quality of
