The Fathers Heart Foundation was established in 2009as a non-profit organization in El Salvador.

We are working from the ground up to establish a SustainableChildrens Center where 84 orphans will be placed into sevenfamily groups who will care for their holistic needs.

We have 5 acres of land in Quezaltepeque, La Libertad, El Salvador, where we will build 7homes and a large multipurpose building for the care of 84 orphans and to serve thesurrounding communities. Approximately one acre of land is for our sustainability farmand we will be purchasing another 4 acres to expand the sustainability farm and provideall of the food needed for the center.

As we are in the beginning stages of developing this land, we are looking forward tohosting teams who can help with the sustainability farm, land clearing, construction andcommunity outreach. In the future, team opportunities will be expanded to includechildcare, serving in the multipurpose building (working in medical clinic, dental clinic, teaching and counseling, sports, music, etc.). The Fathers Heart Foundation has alsonetworked with other organizations in El Salvador, where teams may also serve, including: three Childrens Homes, YWAM El Salvador, projects for gangs, prisons andhomeless people.

A Guest House is included in the Master Plan of the Childrens Center, but the Okurutfamily will host teams coming in 2012-2013. The Okuruts are a unique missionary familyfrom Uganda and Canada. Samuel and Charity Okurut founded the Fathers HeartFoundation. Samuel is the Managing Director of the foundation and Charity is the Directorof Childcare. They have two children: Benjamin (born April 16, 2009) and Eleanora (bornMay 31, 2011).

El Salvador means the Saviour and is known as the Land ofVolcanoes. Salvadoran culture revolves around language, foodand religion.

Over 50% of the population is Catholic. With a population of about7 million people there are close to 2 million who identifythemselves as evangelical Christians.

There is very little impact on the culture by those who would callthemselves Christian (whether Evangelical or Catholic) and thereis a surprisingly low moral standard/values.
