Dear Sir,

I am happy to inform you that Team Ojas, a team comprising of enthusiastic B.Tech

students making an Electric Car, is the official Formula Electric team of VIT University for

International events.

The team operates in a very methodical manner and is highly organized. Every year, new

members are recruited through a test on practical and technical skills, followed by an

interview by seniors and faculty. Hence, the team consists of experienced seniors as well

as fresh talent, supervised by an expert faculty.

The team will be competing in a world level competition named "Formula Student"

conducted by Institution Of Mechanical Engineers, in Silverstone Circuit, England which

is going to be held in July. 2014. However this requires extensive financial and technical

support from the government and industries. Sponsorship will go a long way in aiding

the team's effort at the overseas event. Support to the team will also help increase the

recognition of your company abroad due to presence of industry leaders at the

competition.

Any organization that associates itself with Team Ojas will help bring forth a new pool of

industry-ready engineers to the engineering sector. Therefore, I request your generous

VIT UNIVERSITY

Ranked 8th in India Today's List of the top Engineering colleges of India, VIT University

was established in 1984 with the aim of providing quality higher education at par with

the international standards and also providing a cosmopolitan atmosphere for the

students. It persistently seeks and adopts innovative methods to improve the quality of

higher education on a consistent basis.

VIT has consolidated its disciplines into nine "Schools of Study." VIT has secured

sponsorship for 50 research projects to the tune of Rs. 100 million. In addition to the

research projects, the University also executes consultancy projects for the automotive

and allied industries. These Include:

The institution offers 18 undergraduate and 34 postgraduate programmes. The

University is among the first in India to implement the Fully Flexible Credit System. VIT

has been given Most Favoured status by TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Cognizant, etc

Formula Student (FS) is Europe's most established educational motorsport competition,

run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Backed by industry and high profile

engineers such as Ross Brawn OBE, the competition aims to inspire and develop

enterprising and innovative young engineers. Universities from across the globe are

challenged to design and build a single-seat racing car in order to compete in static and

dynamic events, which demonstrate their understanding and test the performance of

the vehicle.

The fame of Formula Student has grown over time. Over 120 teams annually come to

Silverstone to display their design prowess and management ability. This year 6 teams

from India participated from India, the maximum from any country outside Europe.

The Event:

The cars are judged in a series of static and dynamic events including: technical

inspection, cost, presentation, and engineering design, solo performance trials, and

high performance track endurance.

OJAS, the Sanskrit word for energy, perfectly captures the tough Indian competitive

spirit which all the members on our team aim to bring to this competition.

The members of Team Ojas always aim for innovation with a simplistic design. Our

work revolves around our team motto.

Inspite of the meagre number of selected teams from India, Team Ojas, representing

VIT University, was the Only Team with a hybrid car in Formula Student UK 2012 ,

at the “The Home Of British Racing, Silverstone”. We were also the First Team from

India to qualify for the prestigious competition.

Gaining some experience from the Hybrid Car, we wanted to aim for something which is

more sustainable in terms of the environment. For this very reason we shunned the

engine, and determined ourselves into making a fully Electric Car.

Out of 500 teams which registered for the competition our car got selected in the top

120 teams to compete at FS 2013. We are also one of two Electric teams from India,

which in itself is an achievement!

The design and the suspension system of the car was well appreciated by the judges, for

the strength, safety, and simplicity.

At the event we were placed 52nd in the Cost Report and 76th overall. Not a very

good position though, but what we gained was a huge amount of exposure which would

make our next car more innovative, lighter and better!
