Event: 5 September - Monday 2011

Requirements: (2 – 3 Student Leaders will take full responsibility for prior preparation1. Arrange and organize the prayer service, with prior preparation for the requirements. Assign

readers to responsibly render their role, practice earlier to set the tone of prayerful devotion and let the prayer flow with meaningful pauses without flaw.

2. Display prominently – The Theme, Quote and the Logo on ‘‘Teachers Make a World of Difference’.

3. 8 students to hold placards as per the activity and read the message.4. 3 Readers and the choir to sing.

Introduction:

Lighting of the lamp: The Kuttuvilaku is lit by Manager, Principal, 3 teachers representing - K.G., Primary and Secondary sections.

Leader:

Light represents the presence of God. Light is traditionally linked with knowledge and goodness while darkness refers to ignorance and evil. Light represents the direction and guidance of God.

Let us begin our prayer service with the lighting of the lamp (lit by 5 persons referred above) as we sing the prayer bhajan

‘asato ma sadgamaya’ (Lead me from the asat to the sat). ’tamaso ma jyotirgamaya’ (Lead me from darkness to light). ‘mrtyorma amrtam gamaya’ (Lead me from death to immortality)

AVEC PRAYER SERVICE RESOURCEIndia has been celebrating Teacher's Day on 5th September, since 1962 - the birthday of our eminent educationist Dr Sarvepalli Radhakhrishnan, to honour all the teachers for their immense contribution in our life, in making us more knowledgeable and empowered.

The teachers are the pillars of the society and are the keystone of our future, for they educate and mould us as potential citizens of our country. Through their intelligence, patience and wisdom, they attempt not only to sharpen our intellect but to form our character for a better future

We the students of ………….. School, look forward to this Teacher’s Day with lot of anticipation, for the sheer spirit of the occasion. On this day we acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the teachers of bygone years and present time, knowing that even the elders among us remember their school days with a nostalgic feeling. There is no nobler service more valuable to the country than that of a teacher who instructs the rising generation. ‘It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge’ (Albert Einstein). Teacher's Day is meant to acknowledge the noble legacy of teachers who guide us. All in all, it is a celebration mode for each and everyone!

Leader:

Teachers in which way can we pay our tribute to you, for every letter in TEACHER declares what you do for us.

Ritual A: (8 students holding placards bearing the letters TEACHER come forward to read their parts and stand on the stage displaying the word TEACHER)

T - for the TEACHING TALENT you apply to impart skills of learning process and educate us in the transference of moral values.

E - for the ENTHUSIASM you transmit to inspire and exalt us . As an Educator you enkindle the fervor of our souls and enthuse interest to keep us engaged in our studies

A - for the ABILITY in you which discovers our potential and motivates us to be achievers ; You facilitate learning - as fun and adventure.

C - for the COMMITMENT of time, effort and energy you invest for the esteemed noble task as a responsible and dedicated Teacher of our …………..School

H - for HOME . You teachers make school our second HOME with you as second parents. You think and plan good for us and guide us rightly to ensure a bright future

E - for EQUALITY. You promote equality without a trace of bias on caste, creed, colour or gender. You provide equal opportunity to all and transmit the value of gender equity.

problems. You are resourceful in dealing with us using your creative ingenuity.

S - for the SELFLESS SERVICE you render without any expectation of award, doing what is right and going the extra mile for the welfare of the school and students.

Leader:

A true teacher is not someone who just teaches academic lessons rather a resourceful guide to the students in each and every sphere of life. A teacher's goal is not to create students in his/her own image, but to develop students who can create their own image. Teachers you inspire, encourage, facilitate and support us to be capable enough to face all the odds of life. Teachers you make a world of difference to each of us and we honour you with this song ‘you have made a difference’

Eternal God, Bless all schools, colleges, and universities, especially our __________School and grant that they be lively centres for sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom.God of Love we thank you for every teacher who discovers a child’s special ability or talent. Motivate teachers to keep on learning and to make learning fun for children. Strengthen and sustain teachers who spend themselves in the cause of education and feel abandoned in their advanced years. Grant that those who teach and those who learn may find you to be the source of all truth.

Let us pray for God’s protection and blessings on our school community as we sing the Final hymn.
