Onceuponatime,EvilMisterFredwasthinkingwhathewasgoingtodowithallhisminions .Theminionskeptrunningaround,hittingeachother,fighting,screaming,yelling,andcausingallkindsofcommotion,andhewantedsomepeaceandquiet .
Sohe’sgothiscastleoutthere,andthenoisyminionsaredownbelow .AndEvilMisterFredknowsthatifhegivestheminionscertainweap-onstoplaywith,they’lljustkilleachother .Buttheyalwaysgetgluedbacktogetheragain .Minions,ifyougivethembowsandarrows,theyshooteachotherwiththearrows,andnowyou’vegotminionswithar-rowsstuckinthem,andyou’vegottopullthearrowsoutandpluguptheholes .Ifyougivethemspears,theypokeeachotherwiththespears .Ifyougivethemswords,theycuteachotherinpieceswiththeswords,andthenuseCrazyGluetoputthembacktogetheragain .Theonlythingthatreallyworksgoodisthatyougivethembaseballbats,becausemin-ionshaveveryhardheads,andtheycan’thurteachotherwithbaseballbats .
SoEvilMisterFredsaid,“Ihaveanidea .”SohecalledtheAcmeStoreofEverything .TheAcmeStoreofEveythingexistsonthetopofMountEverest .Andtheyhearanythingyousay .Andifyousay,“Oh,IwishIhadaMercedesBenzcarthat’sworthamilliondollars,”thenpoof!--rightthereinfrontofyou,you’dhaveamillion-dollarMercedesBenz .
EvilMisterFredsaid,“Iwantabunchoftrampolines .”Andthetrampo-linesshowedupinstantly .Andhedidn’thavetosayanythingafterthat .Whentheminionssawthetrampolines,theyjumpedonthemandstartedbouncingaround--boing,boing,boing!Andyougettwoorthreemin-ionsonthesametrampoline,they’refightinginmid-air .Andthemin-ionswouldknockeachotheroffthetrampolinesandlandontheirheads .Andthisdoesn’thurtthematall .Therewereminionsbouncingallovertheplace,andhethought,“Well,that’snotsobad .Atleastthey’reoutofsight .”Hekeptmovingthetrampolinesfartherandfartherfromthecastlesohecouldgetsomepeaceandquiet .
Sowhilehe’sbusydoingthat,JackandJillarelivingintepeesoverhere .

Tepees?Conicalhousesmadeoutof,usuallyleatherandsticks .Andthere’sJack,andthere’sJillwithherlonghair .

Evil Mister Fred on his castle.
Evil Mister Fred’s trampoline.
If you give bows and arrows to minions, they’ll shoot each other.
The minions started bouncing off the trampolines.
AndJacksaid,“Jill,youknowthatlonghairisaproblem,isn’tit?Howdoyouwashallthathair?”AndJillsaid,“Well,Ijuststarthereandcon-tinueuntilIreachtheotherend .”AndJacksaid,“ButJill,it’sinfinitelylong .You’llnevergettotheotherend .”AndJillsaid,“Yeah,butIhaveasponge .It’scalledTheInfiniteHairWashSponge .AndwhenIuseit,Ijustgetitstarted,anditgoesoffallbyitself .Anditgoesfwooom!--andwashesallthehair .”

AndEvilMisterFredhadhisminionsbouncingoverthereandhesaid,“Youknow,thattrampolineisagoodidea .”SohecalledtheAcmeStoreofEverythingandheorderedsomewheels .Andheputwheelsonit .Thenheputamotoronit .Nowhehadamotorizedtrampoline .Andheputhisminionsonthere,andhecouldhavethisthingzoomaroundandtheminionswouldflyoffinalldirections .Andhesaid,“Ilikethatidea--minionsflyingoffofmotorizedtrampolines .I’llmakeawholearmyoftrampolines .”
Sohehadawholebunchoftrampolineswithminionsandbaseballbats,andhehadaradiocontrollersothathecouldcontrolthesetrampolines .Andhesaid,“Now,I’mgoingtosendthesetrampolineminioncartsouttoattacksomepoorcity .”Andthecity’snamewasPoorCity .
“Theminionswillgozoomingdownthestreetsintheirtrampolines,they’llbounceoffandbanganybodytheyseeontheheadwiththeirbaseballbats,andgivethemabumpontheirhead .Andthenthey’llhavetodowhateverItellthemorthey’llgetbumpedontheheadagain .”
AndthepeopleinPoorCityhadnoideawhatwasgoingtohappen .Andthatnight,herecameallthetrampolines .Andtheminionswentdownthestreets,andanybodythatwasoutonthestreetgotbonkedonthehead .AndEvilMisterFredsaid,“Yeah,thisisgreat!”Andtheyallraninsideandtheyclosedtheirdoors .Andthentheycalledtherescuers--JackandJill .Andtheysaid,“JackandJill,we’reunderattack!Traveling

Sotheyfirstputbarricadesonthestreets .Theypiledupfurniture,cars,cats,rats,bats,elephants,anythingtheycouldputintopiles .Butwhenthetrampolinescame,theyranintothepiles--rrrrccch .Thetrampolinesweresopowerful,theyblastedrightthroughthepilesofstuff .
JackandJillsaid,“Okay,thatdidn’twork .We’lldigholesinthegroundandthey’llfalldowntheholes .”Sotheydugdeepholesateveryin-tersection .AndthetrampolinescamerightalongandfellrightintotheholesjustasJackandJillplanned .Buttheybouncedrightbackoutagain .AndJackandJillsaid,“Ohh,man,thatdidn’twork!Whatarewegoingtodo?”
IfyouwereJackandJill,whatwouldyoudotostoptheseeviltrampo-lineguysfromattackingyourcity?
The people in Poor City didn’t know what was coming.
Barricades in the streets wouldn’t stop the minions’ trampolines.
The minions came to Poor City on their trampolines.
Deep holes wouldn’t stop them, either.

Experiment #1: “Build a Zoob Tube”Whatwe’regoingtodoforthefirstpartoftheexperimentisattachsomespringstocupsandseewhattheydo .
[Instructor lets students listen through 2 cups connected by a string.]
Nowwe’regoingtomakeacup .Insteadofastring,we’regoingtouseaspringbetweenthetwoendsandseewhatthatsoundslike .
Tomakethespringssticktothecups,weneedtopokealittleholeinthecup .Sowejustpokethethumbtackinandthenpullitout .Andthenwestickthespringinthere,andthespring--itkindofstays,butnottoomuch .Andwe’llglueitin .Westickitintheotherone .Now,ifyouputtheminwithnoglue,theycanspringbackandthewirescanpokeaholeinyourbody .Sowedon’twanttodothat .Wewanttoputsomeglueontheinside .Seethespringinthere?Now,weonlywanttoglueoneend,becauseinaminutewe’regoingtoaddsomethingbetweenthem .Sowejustdribblesomeglueinside .Canyouseethedribble?It’slikeyou’redrooling .You’regoingtodroolinside .
Nowtheotherside,wehavetobealittlecarefulofit .Theotherendyou’renotgoingtoglue .Ifitspringsawayfromyou,it’llspringtowardyourhand--it’llbeokay .Andyou’regoingtoyellintoitandseeifitdoesanything .[Yells into cup]“Hello,anybodyinthere?”Andseeifanythinghappens .
Weneedtobeabletotaketheotherendoff,becauselaterwe’regoingtoaddapapertubetoit .Andyoucan’tgetcupsintothepapertubeiftheystaytogether .Okay,sofirstwe’llgiveyoutwocupsandaspring .Watchoutfortheends--theycanbesharp .
[Instructor passes out cups, spring, and thumbtack. Students punch holes in cups, attach spring, and add hot glue.]Afterit’sglued,youhavetositthereandwaitforittodryforahundredyears .Whileyou’rewaitingforthegluetogethard,youcanwritesomethingonyourcupso

Okay,readyforthenextpart?Now,you’regoingtomakeatube .Butyou’renotgoingtomakeitoutofaplastictubebecausethatwouldbewaytooeasy .You’regoingtowrapapieceofcardboardonyourplas-tictube .Youcanwrapitwiththewhiteinsideorthewhiteoutside--itdoesn’tmatter .Wrapitsoit’slong .Wrapitaroundthere .Nowyou’ve
Poke one end of the spring through the hole.
Use a pushpin to make a hole in the bottom of the cup.
Dribble some hot glue into the cup to secure the spring in place.
Wrap the cardboard around the cylinder to make a tube.

Now,thisissomethingyouguyscandobutIcan’tdoverywell .You’regoingtoputonecupinthereandtakesometapeandtapeiton .Theproblemis,thespringiswayatthebottomoftheskinnytube .It’sintheresomewhere .Myhanddoesn’tfitinthere,soIcan’tgetitout .Maybeoneofyourhandsissmallenoughtofitinthere .[To student]Reachupthereandseeifyoucanreachitwithyourhand .Wow,yourwholearminthere .[Student reaches into open end of tube and pulls out end of spring, which is attached to cup at the other end.] Oh, lookit -- okay.
Onceyouhavethespringout,thenyouputitthroughtheholeinyourothercup .Ifyouaccidentallyletgoofthespring,itgoesbackin .Thenyouhavetohave[student]takethembackoutagainforyou .Andthen,beforeyoutapeiton,Iusually--well,youcanglueitbeforeyoutapeitorafteryoutapeit .Trytobecarefulwithit .I’mgoingtotapeitfirst .Sometimesitfallsoutwhileyouretapingit,andthenyouhavetotakeitapart .Andthenyougettodroolmoreglue .
Whenyou’redone,you’vegotthiswonderfulthing .It’scalledaCarCrashMaker .Becausewhenyourmomisdrivingyouhome,youholditbehindyourheadandgo[shakes tube, which makes a loud noise]. Andshegoes,“Aaaaaahhhh!”Nothighlyrecommended .
Wrap masking tape around the cardboard tube to hold it in place.
Pull cylinder out of cardboard tube.
Detach the spring from the unglued cup and drop the end
into the tube.
Reach into the tube and pull out the other end of the spring.
Attach the cup to the tube with masking tape.

Reattach the spring to the second cup, tape it to the other end of the tube, and dribble in some hot glue
to hold it in place.
