Autism/Premature/Hearing ImpairedAutismA mental condition, present from early childhood, characterized by difficulty in communicating and forming relationships with other people and in using language and abstract conceptsHearing ImpairedA hearing impairment is a hearing loss that prevents a person from totally receiving sounds through the ear. If the loss is mild, the person has difficulty hearing faint or distant speech. A person with this degree of hearing impairment may use a hearing aid to amplify sounds.Premature

A premature baby is one who is born too early, before 37 weeks. Premature babies may have more health problems and may need to stay in the hospital longer than babies born later. They also may have long-term health problems that can affect their whole lives.

My ExperienceI really didnt know what to expect walking into a classroom where there would be children with disabilities being taught. Well I can proudly say my experience was a great one. The teachers where very patient and caring for each of the students. It was like they knew what each one of the students demands were. They admittedly made me feel comfortable, they ensured me when I was doing things wrong and showed me great teaching methods for students with disabilities. The students were young but you can tell they had a disability of some sort. To me they all needed the same care. They walked up to me with the same smile and played with each other in the same manner. To me they werent any different then a average toddler.

The LessonI went into a toddler class where several of their students suffers from disabilities. We did a sensory centered art project that allowed me and the teachers to place non-toxic washable finger paint onto the students hands. We then placed their hands onto the paper, where the teachers and I later added an inspirational quote for the students to take home.
