T.E.A.C.H. and WAGE$ Advisory Committee is Now the Early Childhood Workforce Advisory CommitteeIn an effort to better describe this group’s important work, the T.E.A.C.H. and WAGE$ Advisory Committee is now the Early Childhood Workforce Advisory Committee.

Seeking MembersThe Early Childhood Workforce Advisory Committee is looking for volunteers to join the group. This group helps the Iowa Association for the Education of Young Children make decisions about how to best support the early childhood workforce and children and families in Iowa. If you would be interested we would love to have you join us. Your knowledge, experience, and passion would be welcome.

Want to Tell Your Story? At each meeting with have a T.E.A.C.H./WAGE$ recipient share how the opportunity has impacted them. We are always looking for recipients who would like to share their experiences with the Advisory Committee.

The group is also interested in hearing at each meeting from our Early Childhood Higher Education partners about their early childhood programs. We are especially interested in changes that are happening at colleges and universities with regard to their Early Childhood programs. Understanding the Early Childhood programs in Iowa helps us to better counsel and support our recipients.

For more information, please contact Ashley [email protected], 515-331-8000, ext. 113.

The cost to attend Iowa’s public universities is now $296 per credit. (It has been $277 per credit for the past 3 years). This $19 per credit ($57 per 3 credit class) increase will likely affect those participants and programs using a bachelor scholarship/attending a 4-year university. Your portion of the tuition and books will go up a bit, if your tuition is not covered by Pell or other grants. But if you are attending a private university, this will be helpful in covering more of the out of pocket costs because the private institutions charge more than $296 per credit. We will be updating our cost calculator and model sum-maries to reflect the tuition changes. Let us know if you have questions about how this might affect you or your program.

The WAGE$ program provides education-based salary supplements, or bonuses, to early care and education providers working with children ages birth to five in regulated settings in Iowa. If your child care program has reached a high-quality level (QRS or Accreditation) and serves children receiving Child Care Assistance, you might qualify! Find out more here.
