Teach First’s birth in 2002

In September 2001 a McKinsey pro-bono study looked into how businesses could help improve secondary education in London and found that great teachers could raise pupils’ results by at least 40%

‘Teach for London’ was one of the recommended interventions

One of the consultants on the McKinsey Project took a sabbatical to write a business plan and went on to found Teach First in 2002
