General Guidelines Students who pass 3 or more subjects are
encouraged to offer 4 subjects at the Standard Level at P5
Students who pass 2 or fewer subjects may offer foundation subjects. Due consideration should be given to the following:
(i) The overall and individual subject score(ii) The overall ability of the child(iii) Performance in previous assessments
3F1S (MTL) This may be offered if the student has demonstrated strong performance in MTL at P4.
3S1F (FMT) This may be offered if the student is performing exceptionally poorly in MTL at P4. Students should be offered this combination only if they are performing poorly in the other subjects. Taking FMT would provide them time to focus on the rest of the subjects they are weak in.
4S1H This is a 5th subject
Should be offered only if the child is very interested very strong in MTL is doing very well in other subjects
At P5, Students will be allowed to retain the option of offering Higher Mother Tongue if the following requirements are met:More than 50% for Higher Mother Tongue andMore than 75% for Mother Tongue
