TD Ameritrade: Cost Basis

This document will provide instructions on how to view an account’s cost basis to determine unrealized/realized gains/losses.

1. From the TD Ameritrade Veo homepage search for the client’s account using the Account Search function Note: You can search by client last name or account number

2. From the account’s History Overview screen select the Cost Basis tab

Note: The Cost Basis section for the client’s account will display. This section has tabs across the top of the section each with a unique function. Three(3) of tabs we are wanting to bring to your attention:

Unrealized Positions- This section will display cost basis for the holdings that the client still owns. The data will be in a summary table format with the ability to get a detailed report by tax lot.

Realized Sell Activity- This section will display cost basis for the holdings that the client sold. The data will be in a summary table format by tax year with the ability to get a detailed report by tax lot

Tax Reports- This section is a report-filtering page that generates custom reports to satisfy a tax report request. The user controls the medium (HTML, PDF, TXT, and XLS) for the report.

3. The Unrealized Positions tab allows you to view the details in two different formats: Summary

and Detail.

Note: This will show detail information on each individual tax lot of the securities held

4. The Realized Sell Activity tab allows you to view the details in two different formats: Summary

and Detail.

5. The Tax Reports allows you to create custom reports to satisfy tax filing questions

You are able to select the Report Type from the drop-down menu

You are able to select the Tax Year and the report format
