“Inter School Science Fair and Education Expo 2011”A two-day “Inter School Science Fair and Education Expo 2011” was conducted by The City School at National Library on 9th and 10th of March 2011. More than 120 students belonging to various schools of the twin city of Rawalpindi and Islamabad showcased their talent by presenting science models within the categories of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Information Technology. Besides participant, thousands of visitors witnessed the event including Students, Teachers, Parents, and people belonging to different walks of life. Famous amongst the visitors were the projects related to solar and wind energy, biomedical sciences, earth crests and rocks, and organic chemistry.The initiative was taken by Mr. Amad-ud-din, Science Coordinator in The City School and Lecturer Physics in Bahria University Islamabad. While talking about the objectives of this fair he said, “Through-out my educational career of teaching Physics, I have severally realized the importance and need of developing practical scientific approach towards different theories within science subjects. In this regard, conducting science fairs and exhibitions can be one of the best possible tools to achieve the target. This led me to volunteer myself to organize this fair. It helped to promote a spirit of competition and creativity amongst the young budding scientists for our future nation. Another main objective was to bring unity and solidarity amongst students of different institutes, since we all belong to the same nation.Now my dream is to further expand the scope and scale of this initiative at international level, so that every year the winning students along with their projects can be given opportunity to represent our beloved county Pakistan in the world. This is my extreme desire to make the world realize the fact that we Pakistanis are not the terrorists that we are blamed for; rather we do possess every constructive talent in every field of life, including sciences.
