TCP/IP (Transmission control Protocol\internet protocol) The TCP/IP is a protocol .it is related

for networking features . TCP/IP is also called transmission

control protocol/ internet protocol The TCP is connection oriented

delivery services. The data is transmitted in segment .

TCP/IP Protocol Architecture

TCP is a protocol in this protocol we have discuss for four layers. These layers are :-

1. Network layer 2. Internet layer3. Host to Host transport layer4. Application layer

Network Layer The network layer is mainly concerned

with routing and congestion control. In packet switching the massage is divided into the pieces called packets and these packets are send over the communication network. This layer decides which out bound communication channel must be used to reduce the congestion. It also decides the optical path for routing of a packet.

Transport Layer Role of transport layer is to receive

the data from the session layer and divide it into pieces in order to pass it to the network layer . A major function of this layer is to hide the details of communication network and provide a network independent device-to-device communication.

Application Layer The major role of application layer

is to provide the facility to use the other layers. It contains several protocols that are generally needed to perform a job. The contents of application layer are determined by the user themselves.

Internet layer The internet layer is responsible for

addressing, packing and routing function. The core protocol of the internet layer are IP,ARP,ICMP and IGMP. The IP is a routable protocol responsible for IP addressing and ARP responsible for the resolution of the internet layer
