• Prof. Elgar Fleisch is a scientist with more than 170 publications as author or co-author.

• Since 1999 he is engaged in research work on internet of things.• In his research, Elgar Fleisch and his team aim at understanding

and designing the ongoing merge between the physical and digital world, a vision that was recently coined the “Internet of Things”.

• His work focuses on applications, economic impacts, and infrastructures of mobile and ubiquitous computing.

• He founded nine start-ups and is member of several boards.

• He was the first person with a catchpenny presentation about internet of things in Upper Austria!

• We immediately organized a study trip to Kaiserslautern – Kaiserslautern is known as cradle of Industry 4.0.

• We identified thematic leading companies, visited them to get new ideas.

• We stepped in scientific discussions with our scientific partners.

• We brought ourselves in a pole position!

• We did a broad survey in Upper Austria to identify the status quo of the knowledge of the local companies.– This brought us the global point of view

• We installed two competence groups for feedback-loops– Users group – especially producing companies (1 group with 10

members)– Provider group – IT, components, consultants, research (3 groups

with 60 members)– Outcome: detailed point of view of the different industrial sectors

• Final result:– 5 thematic workshop groups with more than 60 members (consisting

of users and providers).– Topics: Security, modelling and simulation, production optimization, big data, virtual reality
