Time to playEach team member needs a piece of notebook paper divided into 9 sections.

You will turn in your work at the end of the class. In order for your team to earn points then all members of a team MUST have the problems worked out on his/her paper.

There are 9 envelopes on the board with problems in each one.

Each team will start with a different envelope. One member from each team will come to the board to get a problem from the assigned envelope #. You take the problem to your team to solve. Each team has to have the work on their paper before you can get your next problem.

After the problem is solved, then return the problem to the envelope and look for your answer to find your next problem to solve.

Repeat this until your team has completed all 9 problems successfully!

THINGS TO REMEMBER:When you are trying to decide if a number is rational or irrational, ALWAYS convert it to a ___________ then decide which type of number it is.

Ex. √56 10/5 ⅝

When solving word problems with Sci. Not. Numbers look for key words to determine the operation.

how many times really means DIVIDEhow many more really means SUBTRACTcombined means to ADD

Time to play: STATION 1 Each team is getting a board with two sections

labeled Rational and Irrational. Your team will get an envelope with several

numbers in it. Your team must separate the numbers into two groups, Rational and Irrational. Place each card on the correct side of the board given to you. You will have 7 minutes to place as many cards as you can in the correct section.

When you feel like it is separated into the two groups correctly then one member of the team must get out his/her phone, take a picture of their work and email to your normal math teacher for him/her to score.

Be sure you can read the team members name on the picture.

Now for Station 2…

Page 14: TCAP REVIEW BEGINS Bring your TCAP foldable and your comp book each day to class.

STATION 2:• Your team will receive an envelope of problems to

solve. All the problems involve the scientific notation.

• Each member of your team should have a piece of paper with a total of 16 sections (8 sections on the front and 8 sections on the back).

• You will use the remaining class time to solve as many of the scientific notation problems as you can. There are only 15 problems. So, write your name in the extra section on your paper.

• If it’s a word problem, then show how you set it up and then use your calculator.

• If it’s not a word problem, then write the rules and solve with the calculator. (ex. Mult dec, Add exp solution: 1.2 x 10²)
