TAXI turns 20 years old today! Time flies when you’re having fun, and for the most part, the last 20 years have been a lot of fun. Doing what we’re passionate about has been our prescription for happiness.

I know that most people don’t feel happy about their jobs, but how can we not? We get to help songwriters, artists, and composers find a way to earn income doing what they love. What YOU love!

I’d like to personally thank each and every one of you reading this for trusting us to help you gain some control over your musical lives, help you progress in what you’re passionate about, and for making us feel so connected to you. I know I’ve said this before, but I don’t know too many other people who own companies that feel so incredibly connected to their customers.

I never imagined when I started this company that so many people would feel like they are part of something bigger by becoming TAXI members. It might sound cliché to say this, but I always knew that always doing the right thing for our members would make the company successful. It’s common sense, but so many other companies fail to see the obvious.

So thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

As we roll into 2012, I’m proud to say that we are continuing to open doors that have traditionally been closed to most musicians since the dawn of the music industry. People literally used to laugh at TAXI and say, “They only get Film and TV deals.”

While that’s not exactly true, they aren’t laughing any more! Name one other company that was getting Independent musicians’ music into mainstream TV shows and feature films back in 1992!

How many musicians knew what the term “production music library” meant 20 years ago?

How many musicians even knew what a sync license was two decades ago?

How many musicians had a place where they could learn about these things and have access to the people who offered and signed deals? Now it’s commonplace. We’ve made a difference, and I’m humbled that you’ve chosen us to be the people to help you get where you want to go.

Thank you to all the great folks on our staff (present and past) who have helped you connect with an industry that has traditionally tried to keep you out. Thank you to Michael Lederer for believing in the concept of TAXI and trusting me to not lose his investment!

Thank you to my wife Debra, and our daughters Rachel, Sara, Hannah, and Gabriella for hanging in there with me when we were so broke we couldn’t afford to pay rent and buy groceries in the same week. Thank you for understanding that my commitment to our members means that I have to work at home nearly every night… and most weekends. I simply couldn’t have done this without you.

And finally, thank you to every one of you who has ever sent us a song that made the hair on my arms stand up. After all is said and done, it ALWAYS comes back to great songs and the people who create them.

If you have material you would like critiqued without responding to a specific listing, you’ve come to the right place. Fill out the submission form with the song title(s) and author(s) as usual, but in place of the listing number write “CUSTOM” in capital letters.

Please include a note specifying the aspects you would like the listener to address. For example, some members like to have their craft (lyrics, rhyme, structure, etc.) closely critiqued. Others want to know for which genre their writing is best suited (sorry, but we can’t recommend specific listings for you to pitch to). Still others want a review of their photos, bios, package, etc.
