TATTOS: ORIGIN, DEVELOPPMENT AND MEANING.Firstly, we need to
define what a tattoo is. A tattoo is a marking made in the body by inserting indelible ink into the dermis layer of the skin, to change the pigment for artistic, ritualistic or other reasons, that´s why tattoos are considered as a type of body modification. But on animals, tattoos are used only for identification (in farms, for example).
TATTOS: ORIGIN, DEVELOPPMENT AND MEANING.The first evidence of tattoos in a
human body, perfectly preserved, was found in 1991 in a mountain between Austria and Italy. That´s why the scientist called their discovering ‘ötzi the ice man’ and the body belonged to he Bronze Age (4,000-3,000 B.C).
TATTOS: ORIGIN, DEVELOPPMENT AND MEANING.We also need to talk about the
usage of tattoos in the Ancient Egypt, where written records, physical remains, and works of art reveal the social attitudes towards the tattoos. It´s known that tattoos are used in Egypt since XI dynasty. The most representative evidence of the usage of tattoos was discovered in 1891, when archaeologists discovered the mummified remains of Amunet, a priestess of the goddess Hathor, who lived some time between 2160 BC and 1994 BC., at the city of Thebes.
TATTOS: ORIGIN, DEVELOPPMENT AND MEANING.Central and South
America: In Peru, tattooed Inca mummies dating to the 11th century have been found. In the 16th century Spanish texts relate of Mayan tattooing in Mexico and Central America, revealing that tattoos were a sign of courage, and it was a very common practice.
REPRESENTATIONS IN OUR DAYSsince 1890, when the
American inventor Samuel O´Relly invented the electric tattoo machine, having a tattoo is easier. Even so, by the time this machine was invented, the tattoos were used only by criminals and sailors. Now there are specialized shops and centers where you can get a tattoo, hygienically and fast.
REPRESENTATIONS IN OUR DAYSTattoos are fashion
elementsAs in the past,
people from different cultures still use tattoos as a way to express life experiences; and now, the idea of tattooing hasn´t changed a lot!!!
TABOOS FOR THE TATOOS USAGEMany people around
the world, from one person to entire cultures have a very negative perspective about the art of the tattoos, finally considering this art as a taboo, but what is a taboo?
USAGE OF TATTOOS IN EL SALVADORWhen Latin American
people arrived to the USA, they met these groups and formed gangster groups too, to defend themselves in the streets, and they adopted the usage of tattoos. Let´s remember also that our Mayan ancestors used tattoos. Especially during El Salvador´s civil war, many people immigrated to the USA, when the war was over, they returned to El Salvador, being gangsters, and brought the usage of tattoos.
RISKS OF GETTING TATTOOSIf you decide to get a tattoo, chances are that
everything goes as planned. But if not followed the steps of disinfection and sterilization, you should know that things can go wrong. If you do not go to a tattoo studio or the tattoo studio does not take precautions like using sterilized equipment or if it shares ink between customers, there is the risk of viral infections such as hepatitis, bacterial skin infections or dermatitis (severe irritation the skin). In addition, some people have allergic reactions to tattoo ink.
PROCEDURES TO GET A TATTOO1 - The tattoo artist must
wash his hands.2 – The artist must clean and disinfect the area of your body where the tattoo will be performed.
3 - The person performing the tattoo must put on new gloves and clean his hands (maybe you can put a mask).4 - The tattoo artist will explain the sterilization procedure, and sterilized equipment will be used only once (such as needles, etc.).
PROCEDURES TO GET A TATTOO 5 - The artist uses the tattoo
machine (with a sterile, disposable needle) to start drawing the outline of the tattoo under your skin.6 - After the designing the area with a crayon or special pencil, the area is cleaned with antiseptic soap and water.7 - Thicker needles are installed in the tattoo machine and the artist begins to define the design. After cleaning the area again, he injects the color.8 - If you get blood, it must be removed with a sterile cloth towel or disposable.9 - Once finished, the area, now sporting a finished tattoo, will be re-cleaned and bandaged
CONCLUSIONThe tattoos, after all, are a particular form of art
that were, are and will be part of our societies, but it causes very different opinions in the world , some of us take it as a very hard punishment to our body and other ones take it as an expression of art , a very personal one. With the information that we took from many websites we conclude that tattoos are a very beautiful art form but the concern of the people is that many of them don´t understand the real concept or meaning of the tattoo that some people has.
