June…
Summer is upon us. The crystal clear pool is open. You can enjoy a snack or beverage at the
Snack Shack.
The golf season is in full swing. The fairways and greens are groomed and ready for play.
The Pro Shop has new clothing items for both men and women, or that new club you have
been wanting. The Pros are available for lessons, clinics and club fittings. Remember our Pro
Shop will match any price!
Oakwood’s menu is unique, offering a variety of foods to please every taste. In addition, the
golf bar offers a wide selection of beers, wines, and other beverages for the discriminating pal-
ate.
There's a lot to do at Oakwood, and summer offers us the opportunity to enjoy our country
club at its fullest. We have a whole calendar of activities planned for this month and through-
out the summer. This is your club, come out and enjoy it!
But, wouldn’t it be even greater to be able to enjoy it with a friend? As you know, we are
having a new member drive, and your friends represent the best source for new members.
Membership packets are available at the office or right inside the front door, so feel free to
share them with your friends, your neighbors, business associates, or anyone you can think of.
Remember there is a special discount that expires on July 31, so we want to encourage people
to join as quickly as possible, to be able to take advantage of that opportunity. Membership is
the lifeblood of any country club, and more members allow us to create a larger vision of the
future for Oakwood.
Are you on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram? Share your pictures and positive experiences, as
well as the link to Oakwood, so that people can see that we are no longer the best kept secret
in the Quad Cities.
Lastly, I want to hear about your positive experiences at Oakwood. You can email me at
[email protected] Feel free to share pictures, positive comments, or even recognize a
team member who has provided you with excellent service. Also, if you have positive sugges-
tions on how we can improve Oakwood, I’d like to hear those as well.
So, enjoy Oakwood - It’s your club, it’s where you belong!

Greetings,
What a great start to the season. Memorial Day weekend, although a little warm, was just what we
needed to get the party started. I hope that everyone enjoyed themselves while taking part in the
celebrations and we are all looking forward to providing a relaxing atmosphere for you to unwind.
We are making a change to Thursday nights at the Club. There will now be a build your own pasta
buffet available as well as the dining menu. Remember, as a member of Oakwood, you are able to rent
the pool for an evening party. This is perfect for birthday or team parties and family gatherings. If you
are interested please give me a call and I will be happy to assist.
Please take the time to review the newsletter for upcoming events. Two that stand out are the Divorce
Open this month, The Summer Celebration and Fireworks in July as well as the Ladies Member Guest.
As always if you have any questions, suggestions, or if there is anything that we can do for you please do
not hesitate to let us know. Have a safe and happy 2018 season at your Club!
Respectfully,
Mark

Wine of the Month Marietta Christo- Red Blend 2014
A very dark color and densely packed aromas of blackberry, charred wood and dark chocolate are followed by a richly tannic texture and generous flavors that are dry and reminiscent of espresso beans and black cherries. The concentration of flavor and equally impres-sive tannic mouthfeel make this wine bold and memorable. A great red wine that would pair well with anything from our Flat Iron Steak to Grilled Halibut.
