Marianne Laugel MS City Planning Consortium Project Manager 3461 Aylwin St., #303 Montreal Qc H1W 3E2 October 28, 2012 Martha Rosas Montreal City Councilor Montreal City Hall 275 Notre Dame East St., #275 Montreal Qc H2Y 1C6 Subject: Request for a grant for the project “Montreal, City of fountain” Dear Ms. Rosas MS City Planning Consortium is respectfully requesting a grant of $50,000 for the project “Montreal, city of fountain”. “Montreal, City of fountain” is an ambitious project that mixes city planning, education and arts. In order to beautifying the city, we plane to install or to renovate 40 fountains across the city. We will gather the best local professionals: designers, manufacturers and restorers. In collaboration with the McGill Department of History, the History of the foundation of Montreal will be told through the path of those 40 fountains. “Montreal, City of fountain” is also an artistic project. A new talent contest implying several artistic disciplines will be held. The winners in each discipline will perform and/or exhibit during the whole summer 2015 in the new converted spaces. A great outdoor opening will take place in Parc Maisonneuve in partnership with The Montreal Symphonic Orchestra for a water and music show: the fountains will be choreographed to music. The whole event will be recorded and videotaped by CBC. MS City Planning consortium has already shown its expertise, especially with its most recent project in Las Vegas. “Fountains and live music”, in partnership with the Nevada touristic office and the Symphonic Orchestra Foundation, was a great success and gave a new face to the streets of Las Vegas (photos here: www.lasvegasfountains.com). The event was a totally new experience of water music show (2011 recording show here: www.youtube.com/1221).
