20-The interpretations

Give an explanation for a tsunami crashing and destroying one of Australia’s coastal areas. Choose your coast from

a map and describe and map the area of the impact.

I chose a tsunami coming and hitting Kingston on the edge of South Australia.

Kingston, South Australia

The tsunami would hit this town at the speed of up to 800km/h. When it comes to the town it would sound like a freight train. When it hits the shallow part of the water or land. It would slow down.

What would happen?

The Tsunami would be caused by an underwater earthquake, a landslide or a volcano eruption. Sometimes, but very rarely, a tsunami can be caused by a meteorite

crashing into the water. The big wave would then hit the grass. When it hits the grass as shown on the next slide, the tsunami would smash against the trees. From there it would whoosh over the road. It would belt against the houses and flood the houses . The floods can reach up to 300 metres inland from the sea. The tsunami would take

most of the rubbish from the houses with it.

Techtronic Plates

If there was a earthquake on this plate it would create a tsunami. The wave would go

in all directions and hit places around it.

If this tectonic plate shuddered it would created huge waves. It is in the Southern Ocean.
