Question 1The data collected for this question shows that the most majority of the surveying group is males.

Since our film is based on horror; we have decided to focus on the survey group to be male and it’s stereotypical suggestive that males are most likely to enjoy watching horror films more than females.

There’s only a difference of one male in the survey group.

Question 2The data collected for this question shows that the majority of people who took the survey are in the age group 15-20 years old.

Our group came up with the suggestion that the targeted age group would be mainly young adults so our survey group did majorly consist of them since the age group for young adults would range between 17 to 24 year olds.

There’s only one person who may be 21 or older.

Question 3The data collected for this question shows that the majority of the survey group prefer ‘Action’ as their film genre. Only 3 people prefer Thriller and 2 for horror.

Our group expected that due to the male majority in our group; we expected that they would have a preference to thriller or horror films.

However, there was a problem with one of the results so we classed it as ‘Other’ since they put about 3 preferences for their film genre instead of one.

Question 4The data collected for this question shows the different hobbies for each of the survey candidates.

It’s difficult to present this result in the format of a bar graph since there are numerous types of hobbies that were listed.

However, if we were to categorized the hobbies into particular groups such as creative hobbies; sports hobbies, etc. The majority of the hobbies come under the creative side which could mean that the majority of our survey group uses their past-time for creative activities.

Question 5The data collected for this question was for the survey candidates to give their opinion on what they expected for a film that’s based on being a slasher-stalker hybrid.

Once again, it was difficult to record what the majority of people expected since they were giving different or similar opinions to each other. They also focused on different parts of the film which will be good overall so we know what needs to be covered for each perspective of the filming.

However, it seems that the majority of the people gave the opinion that death scenes is needed to be included when relating to the slasher-stalker genre.

Question 6The data collected for this question shows that the majority of people who took the survey would expect the colour black to be included on the film poster.

This suggests that they expect the main colour of the poster to be black and use dark colours in order for the message to be conveyed to the audience that the film poster is for the stalker film genre.

The second most suggested colour is red which could mean that they expect loads of blood to be seen in the film poster for a slasher-film.

Question 7The data collected for this question shows that the majority of people who took the survey mainly used ‘Whatsapp’ for social media.

This suggests that the majority of the group communicate with others on a daily basis; meaning that the marketing technique ‘word of mouth’ would often be used through social networking apps such as Whatsapp.

The second most used social media site is instagram so this means the majority of the group are able to view pictures online through the app hence; film posters may also be displayed on instagram for marketing purposes.

Question 8The data collected for this question was in the style of commenting; meaning that the survey candidates had to give their opinion on particular presentations they expect to see in a film trailer.

It’s difficult to analyse the results in order to know what a specific proportion of the candidates look-out for in a film trailer.

However, by overlooking the results all together; it appears that the most suggested factor for a good film trailer is that it must have a good plot-line in order for it to appeal to the audience.

Question 9The data collected for this question shows that the majority of people who took the survey believe that the most effective way to advertise a film is by using a trailer.

This could be because a trailer is giving the audience a visual taster of the film without giving too much of the story and ending away. This is probably one of the best factors in order to lure the target audience into watching the film when it’s released.

Question 10

The data collected for this question shows that the majority of people who took the survey believe that it’s either essential or very important that music/sound is used in order create an atmosphere in a slasher film.

The results show a tie between the options ‘Very Important’ and ‘Essential’ which could be due to that they are quite similar options but they still dominated the ending result thus concluding overall that music/sound is a must-have factor when it is used mainly to create an atmosphere for the audience.
