Target audience analyseThe images that have been selected at hand, demonstrate the areas of specification including aspects such as, age and gender. Our specific target audience are teenage girls who are the age band of 14-20. The type of genre is pop, specifically suggesting the idea that it follows ideals in all various elements and areas. The term ‘Pop’ refers to popular, therefore meaning that they will follow popular trends in areas like clothing brands, interests, food and drink, social media and even the programmes that they entertain themselves with. The images used are related to popular items within society that teens are associated too. The social media aspects that I have incorporated are Snapchat, twitter, Facebook and Instagram. These sites are very much the stereotype of teenagers, but also the fact that teenagers don’t interact with others much in terms of face-to-face conversations, its now more chatting over and through social media. However, through social media teenagers are also able to follow their idols, plus bands and artists that they take an interest in. This way the fans and the artist can interact on a more personal level. The artist is also able to advertise concerts and events to the audience, drawing them in further. However, social media also allows a further audience to be gained, meaning that the artist can appeal and gain more of society to their fan base. The types of programs that teenage girls watch are the likes of Teen Wolf, Scream Queens, Grey’s anatomy, 90210 and The kardashians. The conventions for the types of programs are that they entertain themselves with are mainly reality TV and hit US teen dramas, which often involve messy love storylines which have lots of backstabbing with twists along the way. Teens like programs that show love and on the edge excitement at the same time, something that is gritty and makes them want to watch more. However, some areas that the teenagers like, also enjoy blood and gore in some of their dramas like scream queens. In the majority of these dramas, they use music and backing tracks to build suspense in the drama. Many of these tracks are from well-known artists or artists who are beginning to build themselves up in the music industry. Alternatively, when the audience watch the shows they can instantly make a link to an artist, if the song is well-known or popular at that current point in time. Further, the brands of clothing that teenagers are attracted to are a various brands ranging from high street to designer labels. These brands consist of river island, Superdy and Hollister to more high streets brands like New Look, Asos and Miss Guided. Many of the clothing styles and brands worn come from what others are wearing and remaining on trend at that time and season. Although, most of these fashion outfit combinations come from actresses and singers that are current at that moment. However, it can also be from what the artists wear in their music videos. But, pop is often extreme with costume choice , therefore the inspiration is mainly from what the artists wear day-to-day. Overall, all aspects are mainly inspired by the artists that they are interested in or what the artists are doing, trying to achieve the lifestyle of the artist in all aspects.
