TOTAL :24 044 025
Ton
1 kg of fresh roots yields 200 g of starch 40 and 90 g of cake “direct” cassava consumption was only 21.5% of total
supplies about 34-35% of total cassava available, was processed in
medium and large-scale processing industries 45% was used in households, mini and small industries, and non-formal sectors Source
(study by Gunawan,1997) 8,415,408 Ton Cassava/year for Starch Production
TAPIOCA• For tapioca starch biogas plant it will generate
42 - 63 MW• There is 5-10% cake for 1 ton cassava,
opportunity to make it as biofuel or generated biogas using anaerobic sludge digester.
• Cassava cake composition : 68% carbohydrat, 1.57% protein, 0,26% Fat, 10% fiber
POME
AGRICULTURE INDUSTRIES
 608 palm oil mills 22 provinces 34284 TFFB/hour Potentially to produce 34,584,000 Ton CPO/year
POME
AGRICULTURE INDUSTRIES
POME : 349 MW biogas electricity. Based on Central of Statistic Bureu
 2x 349 MW : Based on Dept. Forestry’s data.
CANE SUGAR
AGRICULTURE INDUSTRIES
Typical WW. COD : 1800-3200 mg/l BOD : 720 – 1500 mg/l Based on CBS : power generated from Cane Sugar
effluet ; 50 MW Power generated from 1305454 Ton Molases ( year
2005 ) : 142 MW Existing cane sugar factories using lagoon/ aerobic
treatment

AGRICULTURE INDUSTRIES
 UASB
 CSTR
 Covered Anaerobic Lagoon
 Biogas Conditioning
 Flare & Biogas Engine
TECHNOLOGIES
Aerobic treatment plant is required to reach local water discharge standard.
Reasons to do Biogas Projects
 Effluent discharge regulation
 Land application (fertilizer)
 CDM
 Renewable Energy
 RSPO (specifically for Palm Oil)
Biogas Project
Issue
Palm oil mills do not need biogas from effluents, as they have enough electricity from biomass
 Grid is not available
Seasonal production from tapioca and sugar
 Only few big farms
 Consultant cost to get PPA
 Long project lead
Biogas Project
Only 10 % of the industry utilizes its biogas as energy source
There are still big opportunities to supply technology and investment on biogas utilization for
agriculture industries in Indonesia (for Palm Oil Mill, Tapioca and Sugar)
The applied technology has to be competitive to get a reasonable ROI
Indonesia’s government has to give an incentive / make an easy arrangement for PPA with PLN
Electrical Grid has to be provided by PLN
