Since 1993, Tamwood International Camps has been offering world-class instruction, lots of fun and a warm welcome to young people from around the globe at its summer and winter camp programs in Canada and the USA.

Tamwood is a privately owned and operated business that receives more than 2500 international students in its programs each year. We help campers develop self-confidence, a sense of adventure and curiosity and an appreciation for cultural diversity. While camp may last for just one season, these are the values that last and shape a person’s life time.

This is Tamwood’s signature camp program which attracts more than 1000 international students each year across all 7 locations in North America. Students learn English and new skills in sports, creative and adventure activities, experience cultural exchange and enjoy fun social events and excursions.

Winter TeenEnglish and Activity CampTamwood’s Vancouver Winter Camp offers the same high-quality English language instruction as Tamwood’s summer camps, plus popular Canadian winter activities like skiing, snowboarding and ice skating. Designed especially for teens ages 12-18, students can participate in 2-, 3-, or 4-week programs, including 15 hours of classroom study and up to four organized activities per week. Classes are held at Tamwood’s downtown Vancouver campus.

• 20 lessons/week (1 lesson = 45 min.)

• Great sightseeing, social activities, excursions and cultural events

• Whistler full day sightseeing trip

• Skiing / Snowboarding at Grouse Mountain

On weekdays, after classes finish, campers take part in recreational and sightseeing activities in Vancouver that are designed to be both educational and fun. Activities include visits to downtown Vancouver, Chinatown, the Lynn Valley Suspension Bridge, Science World, Vancouver Aquatic Centre, and much more. Note: Not all activities are offered in all weeks.

Activities:

This program includes a full day trip to the world famous Whistler Resort, host venue of the 2012 winter Olympics. Also available are optional weekend tours to Seattle, Victoria and other Vancouver attractions.

Excursions:

Teens get maximum contact with English speakers through our Homestay Program. All homestay hosts are carefully selected and offer single or twin rooms, three meals a day and lots of attention to their guest students. Students who have family in Vancouver can also opt for self-arranged accommodation.

Whistler Teen Adventure CampGet ready for extreme outdoor adventure. Jump into structured mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, kayaking, orienteering, camping and mountaineering. Join a small group of teens from around the world who, like you, are ready for more than what a standard camp offers. You will learn important leadership, team work, camping and first aid skills as you try new activities and enjoy wilderness sleepovers in the mountains.

English and Nike Sports Camps in BostonMake American friends while improving your game! Through a partnership with US Sports, the operator of Nike Sports Camp, America’s largest sports camp provider, Tamwood is pleased to offer a program that combines the best in English Instruction with the best sports training and coaching in the USA. Campers take English classes in the mornings, join the Nike Sports camp program at Curry College four afternoons a week and take part in excursions and activities with campers in the English and Activity Camp at other times.

NIKE Basketball TrainingDesigned for boys and girls, Nike Soccer Camps focus on individual skills, such as footwork, agility, and reading the field, and team play, including set plays, strategy, and team dynamics.

• 8:1 camper-to-coach ratio.

• Daily sessions highlight fundamentals, demonstrations, team play, and lectures.

• Report card and discussion of skills with an individual written evaluation at the end of camp.

NIKE Soccer TrainingDesigned for boys and girls, NIKE Basketball Camps offer focused training in skills such as shooting, passing, dribbling, and rebounding, but also broad game skills such as communication and cohesion.

• 10:1 camper-to-coach ratio. Campers grouped by skill level and age.

• Individual skill development, strength and conditioning, technical and tactical training, and mental game focus.

• Personal evaluation for each camper at the end of the session.

NIKE Tennis TrainingPrograms are designed for boys and girls. NIKE Tennis Camps focus on developing the technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects of a player so that they can compete at their highest level.

• 6:1 camper-to-coach ratio.

• Groups based on skill level and age (each camper evaluated at check-in).

• Focus on stroke mechanics, agility exercises, and competitive match play.

NIKE Volleyball Training Designed for girls, the NIKE Volleyball Camps offers campers a comprehensive approach to all positions, designed for any skill level. Players will master the basics while improving their technique and having fun with teammates.

• 10:1 camper-to-coach ratio. Personal evaluations provided by coaches.

• Groups based on skill level and age.

• Daily training sessions highlight skill development, position training, and match play.

• 8:1 camper-to-coach ratio. A written evaluation will be provided by coaching staff.

Toronto is Canada’s largest city and offers an amazing number of attractions, events and festivals making it a great cosmopolitan summer camp location. Tamwood’s Toronto summer camp is located on the University of Toronto campus, Mississauga. The campus is situated on 225 acres of protected greenbelt along the Credit River and is 20 minutes by car from the Toronto airport , 25 kilometres west of the city centre of Toronto, close to Lake Ontario, Niagara Falls, Canada’s Wonderland and many other famous sites. The location of this campus makes it a very safe and attractive choice for international campers.

Los Angeles is home to many famous attractions - your choices include amusement parks, architectural landmarks, art museums and galleries, beaches, parks, hiking and shopping, to name a few. Tamwood Summer Camps is located at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). It is located in the residential area of Westwood and bordered by Bel-Air, Beverly Hills and Brentwood. Its central Los Angeles location makes it the perfect place for this summer camp which is so rich in sightseeing excursions.

What’s Included

Ages and NationalitiesOur staff are hired from across Canada and the world, on the basis of their values, passion, skills, and genuine love for children. Our unique and careful interview process allows us to identify candidates who have the intelligence, compassion, skills and motivation to be successful. Every staff member, whether new or returning, arrives at camp early and has an extensive training period before your child arrives. We are committed to making a difference in your child’s summer.

Campers are divided into two age groups for all activities and classes: Juniors, ages 7-12 and Teens, ages 13-17 (18 in winter). Campers come from many countries including: Belgium, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Czech Republic, Latvia, Turkey, Russia, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, Thailand, Canada and the USA.

Care and SafetyTamwood cares for all of its campers as much as their parents do, and safety of all campers and staff is a top priority for Tamwood. Our carefully designed rules and procedures ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner. Also, all equipment is checked regularly to ensure that it is in safe working condition.

We don’t just ensure their safety, we go further, and nurture and care for all our campers. Parents can sleep easy knowing someone is looking out for their child as much as they would. We nip homesickness in the bud and work extra hard to make sure your kids make friends and feel connected and cared for from day one.

Airport TransfersCampers are met at the airport by Tamwood staff and taken by bus to the campus. Transfers are provided free of charge for campers arriving and departing on Sundays between 8:00 and 20:00. Airport transfers are provided at the following airports: YVR, Vancouver International Airport, SFO, San Francisco International Airport, LAX, Los Angeles International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport.

Meals & Special DietsCampers living in residence enjoy 3 meals and an evening snack every day. Meals are served buffet style and campers can choose what they like. Vegetarian options are always available and other special diets can be accommodated with advance notice. Homestay hosts provide breakfast and dinner in the home and packed lunches on school days.

The city of Boston is America’s premier college town and one of its most international cities. First incorporated in 1630, Boston is also one of the United States’ oldest cities.

Our Boston Summer Camp is located at Curry College. Situated on a 135-acre wooded campus and only 7 miles from the downtown core of Boston, Curry College is a great location not only for its beauty but also for the safety and security that it provides for our Summer Camp. The campus is right next door to the Blue Hills natural reservation, which offers breathtaking views and many kinds of outdoor recreation opportunities.
