General Meeting Minutes

October 25, 2016

The meeting was called to order by President Bill Munsey at 8:15 p.m. at Judy Smith’s home in Plant City. Also present were members Jan Huffor, Irene Munsey, Judy Smith, Diane Miles, Deb Holland, Julia Lipsio, Stefanie Nawlin, Laura Calci, Dolly Go-len and Louise Lee. Our guest was Lisa Todd.

Minutes of the General Meeting: Bill asked for corrections or changes to the September 2016 minutes. Diane made a motion to approve the September minutes as printed and sent by email, seconded by Jan. Motion passed.

President’s Report: Bill had no report.

Vice-President’s Report: Jacki Evans was absent. Bill welcomed Lisa Todd.

Secretary’s Report: Irene reported an email with the Specialties for SSC of Southeast Florida for Saturday, January 7, 2017. Another email listed a Fun Match for the Hillsborough County Florida Dog Fanciers for Saturday, November 12.

Treasurer’s Report: Judy gave a report ending September 30. Bill accepted the report pending audit.

Committee Reports:

Combined Specialties, Bill reported the October meeting was postponed. FAKC/Legislation, Diane reported that she and other members went to the October 11 meeting in Pinellas County. The proposed rules indicated anyone having one litter was to be considered pet dealers. Susan Smith, FAKC President also attended. No vote was taken. The Animal Services Di-rector and others are going to iron out the terminology. Irene reported that a first draft for pet sales was prepared for Hills-borough County to discuss. In addition to requirements for sales of pets, an impact fee would be charged for each pet sold. Historian, Jan said she has been taking pictures from Facebook and putting them in the club ’s albums. Meeting Hospital-ity, Judy thanked the Hillsborough contributors for goodies they brought to the meeting. Programs, Irene stated the program would be members putting together the homemade dog bones and Sheltie cookie cutter for the weekend trophies.

Show Chairman, Diane said that the professional stewards would handle our shows. Irene thanked Judy, Julia and Jan for baking the dog bones. Louise said she solicited all members for items for the raffle. Lisa offered to help at the shows with the raffle. Jan said Judges Hospitality was all set. Bill, Irene and Judy will pick up some judges gifts. Judy asked how much the change funds needed to be for the raffle and catalogs. Catalogs will be $3.00 each.

Obedience Trial Chairman, Diane will help Fran Salvas do the trial applications. Irene said we might have enough cook-ie cutters left to give to one trial. The contract with Susan Gordon needs to be signed.

Awards, After discussion, it was decided to move the deadline date up to November 12 to give Jeannine McFarland more time to prepare the awards. This was due to the Christmas Party being earlier than usual. Sunshine, Bill thanked the club for the card he received regarding his recent hospital stay.

Unfinished Business:

Nominating Committee – Diane Miles, Lorrie Reed and Judy Smith – Diane reported the committee is working though emails. The panel will be in the November bulletin.

2017 St. Petersburg and Venice Supported Entry Trophies – Irene sent information to Lorrie Reed on October 21 and the items were given to Diane that night to take to Lorrie.

Calendars – Diane had calendars to sell and will have them at the specialties to sell

New Business: None.

Trade Secrets Drawing: No submissions. After discussion, it was decided to suspend Trade Secrets for the months of November and December in the bulletin and resume again in January.

Brags:

Diane reported Pinkie debuted in Agility and qualified in two out of three runs. Stefanie reported that Jessica earned her UDX title at the IPOC Trials with First in Utility B, 198 ½ and High in Trial. Dolly stated that Brady earned his MXP and MJP. Bill bragged that Coal now has three points.

Next Meeting: The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 15, at Diane Miles ’ home in Pinellas Park.

Bill adjourned the meeting at 9:10 p.m. Bill demonstrated putting together the cookie cutters and the homemade dog bones. A number of members made short work of getting the trophies ready.

Donlyn’s Ace of Spades – Coal – was Winners Dog, Best of Winners, for a point at Mattoon Kennel Club on October 21, handled by Becky Johnson, under Judge June Penta. On October 22 at Sandemac Ken-nel Club, under Judge Raymond V. Filburn, Jr., he was Winners Dog for a point. On October 30, he was again Winners Dog at Valparaiso Kennel Club under Judge Michael H. Faulkner for one point.

GCH Donlyn’s Ace of Diamonds – Chip – was Select Dog at the Brandon Florida Kennel Club, October 29, for 5 points under Judge Robert Stein, handled by Lindsey Laycock. The next day he was again Select Dog for 4 points under Judge Kenneth Buxton.

GCH Kismet’s Jared – Jared finished his Grand Cham-pionship on September 24 at the West Volusia Kennel Club, 5 points, under Judge Mrs. Lee Anne Bateman, handled by Stefanie Nawlin. He was Best of Breed on October 29, at the Brandon Florida Kennel Club under Judge Robert Stein. Then he was Best of Opposite Sex on Saturday at the TBASSC Specialty under Judge Meredith Hector for 4 points and again BOS at the Spe-cialty Sunday under Judge Hector Hector for 5 points.

Donlyn’s Cinnamon Sugar was Best of Opposite Sex in Sweepstakes on October 30 at the TBASSC Specialty under Judge Debbie Ross, handled by Stefanie Nawlin

CH Kismet’s Wind Chimes had a litter of two Tri males by CH Kismet’s Chateau Successor on September 13.

Donlyn’s Dark Angel UDX BN GN GO RE CGC OM1 – Jessica – co-owned and handled by Stefanie Nawlin, earned her UDX title at the Imperial Polk Obedience Club, on October 22, under Judge Mike Williquett. Jes-sica was First in Utility B with a score of 198 ½ for High in Trial. She also earned a 194 ½ in Open B.

At our TBASSC Special-ty show, MyTime Pandora, Pandi, owner-handled, took Best Puppy in Sweepstakes under Judge, Lorna Staab. So proud of our two beautiful girls!

At the TBASSC Specialty Shows Kintyre’s Costa Del Sol “Tessa” (both majors) was RWB under Judge Mrs. Meredith Hector on Saturday 10/29/2016 and RWB un-der Judge Mr. Hector Hector on Sunday 10/30/2016.

Lochlyn Brave Heart Of Castle “William” was WD for his third Major under Judge Mr. Hector Hector at the TBASSC Specialty Show on Sunday 10/30/2016. Wil-liam now needs 3 singles to finish his Championship.

10/30/2016 Costa Del Sol’s Bella Mia “Bella” was WB/BW/BOBOH awarded by Judge Mr. Kenneth Buxton for her third major to finish...it’s now CHAMPION COSTA DEL SOL’S BELLA MIA. Little did I know my little brown home-bred girl was just getting started as she then went on to win OHG1 and then awarded BISOH by Judge Mr. Kenneth Buxton! Way a day, what a thrill and what a way to finish another great weekend! To say I’m excited is an understatement as anyone who was there can attest too :-)
