relief and short term and long term rehabilitation and development for the people of
Srilanka.

Situation
!
!
� There have been Multi barrel, Artillery shelling continuously at the border areas
of the Mukamallai , Puliyankulam , Mannar and Manalaru
� The Kefir fighter attacked once in two days
� A9 Road connecting the North with other provinces is open only on three days
Monday, Wednesday, and Friday in a week
� People of Vanni Region are suffering by increase of price of food items and fuel.
� The Government officers activities have come down because A9 highway is
open for 3days in a week.
� 59.2% children are under malnutrition condition according to the CHC report in
North Vavuniya
� People displaced from coastal areas of
Vadamaradchchi East to Chundikulam Village
have acute shortage of dinking water and There is
a need for temporary shelter. Transportation of
essential items is very difficult due to bad
condition of roads. There is no hospitals only
once in a month mobile clinic.
� The weather is very hot without rain. As monsoon failed the tanks are drying up
causing acute shortages for water.
� The world bank approved 1000 million to reconstruct that the Iranaimadhu tank
but no MOD permission to ADB comes to Kilinochchi.
� Tsunami co-finance fund Rs.250,000/= per beneficiary from world bank is still
frozen for Mullaitivu District.
� Prices are increasing to the essential food items and fuel

Displacement and activities!
Over the past two decades Tamil people in Srilanka have been affected by War and
violence unleashed by the SL Army and the Para military groups. They also were
affected by Tsunami in December 2004.
However the violence increased in December 2005, after the New Government won the
election in November 2005. This situation is continuing a number of People have been
displaced in North East by Multi barrel artillery shelling, Ariel attacks, forward troop
movements of the SL army and DPU attacks
The displaced people are assisted NGOs and UN Organizations also Local NGOs. Some
of areas are not covered by INGOs for reason of security.
TRO with its partner organizations are on the spot to provide the essential needs drinking
water ,food , cloth, shelters and transportation.
Ever the ceasefire agreement conduct bring the descried normalcy due to increased
military and paramilitary activities.

In the areas of North Vavuniya which comes under regular attacks Shelling , air strikes
and DPU of SL Army due to above reasons People have been displacing to safer areas..

Mannar District
People of Madhu, Thampanai, Periyapandivirichchan, Sinnapandivirichchan,
MulliKulam, Keerisuddan, Thadsanamaruthamadhu, have been displaced to safeguard
themselves from the military attacks.
There is acute a shortage of dinking water, food items, medicines, and shelter. Some
Organization are helping them by providing shelters and non- food items only.
They wanted comprehensive relief work to be done through TRO. !
