Welcome toTameside’s Cultural Events
What you need to know
@tmbc_culture
We hope you will find plenty to enjoy in this programme of events throughout the Spring and Summer months. The wide range of activities offers something for everyone, whatever your interest, age or ability.
Tameside has a great deal to offer the visitor, both indoors and outdoors. The Museums and Galleries have changing exhibitions and activities, allowing you to make return visits and always find something new to see and do. There are a great variety of parks and countryside to enjoy, from the formal Victorian town parks, to the meadows and woods of the valleys and the high open moorland. Tameside’s green space is great for exercise and, as well as being good for the body, it’s good for the soul, providing opportunities to relax, find peace, inspiration and contemplation, and a general sense of well-being. There is an inspiring theatre programme incorporating Ballet Theatre UK’s stunning production of Aladdin and a visit from Stuff and Nonsense with Elves and the Shoemaker. Additionally we have a range of theatre classics throughout August outdoors including Alice in Wonderland which celebrates its 150th anniversary during 2015.
Continuing with the Centenary of the First World War, don’t miss Armed Forces Day in June or the touring production “A Richer Dust” which centres on the Gallipoli anniversary during September.
If you want more information on any of the events ring the relevant number on the back of this leaflet.

Tommy AtkinsTread softly, Tommy’s sleeping
The longest sleep of allWhere stands the willow weepingO’er the ground where he did fall.
Y oung Tommy left a lover, To warm his death - cold bed,Now poppies bloom to cover The mud above his head.
He sleeps soundly on his pillow‘Neath his coverlet of dust
Where still the weeping willowTurns his weaponry to rust
And that blood-red badge of courage,
The poppy in the f ieldStill blooms forever onwards
Where Tommy’s fate was sealed.
