GENERAL NOTES
1. ALL WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEMOST RECENTLY ADOPTED STATE OF ALASKA CODES ANDAMENDMENTS TO THE INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE, NFPA,INTERNATIONAL MECHANICAL CODE, UNIFORM PLUMBINGCODE, NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, ALL LOCAL REGULATIONSAND TRADE STANDARDS.
2. BUILDING DESIGN IS TO BE REVIEWED AND APPROVED BY THELOCAL FIRE CHEIF OR EQUIVALENT AUTHORITY.
3. THE ORGANIZATION OF THESE DRAWINGS IS NOT INTENDED TOCONTROL THE DIVISION OF WORK AMONG SUB-CONTRACTORS.THE DIVISION OF THE WORK SHALL BE THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITYOF THE GENERAL CONTRACTOR.
4. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE ALL NECESSARY PRECAUTIONARYMEASURES TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC, ENVIRONMENT ANDADJACENT PROPERTIES FROM DAMAGE THROUGHOUTCONSTRUCTION. CONTRACTOR ASSUMES ALL LIABILITY FORDAMAGES INCURRED DURING CONSTRUCTION.
5. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WORK SCHEDULE, LOCATIONOF STORAGE AREAS, COLLECTION OF TRASH, AND DELIVERY OFMATERIALS WITH THE OWNER.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REMOVALOF ALL RUBBISH AND DEBRIS RESULTING FROM CONSTRUCTIONAND DEMOLITION ACTIVITIES. DISPOSAL SHALL BE IN ANAPPROVED SITE AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH STATE AND LOCALREGULATIONS.
7. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE AND MAINTAIN ALL EXISTINGFACILITIES FOR HEAT, LIGHT AND POWER WITHIN THE PREMISESAND IN THE CONSTRUCTION AREA DURING THE ENTIRECONSTRUCTION PERIOD. PROVIDE NECESSARY MATERIALS ANDLABOR FOR TEMPORARY POWER CONNECTIONS FOR MACHINES,PORTABLE EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, ETC. AS USED BY TRADES,REGARDLESS OF SIZE.
8. IN GENERAL, THE WORKING DETAILS WILL INDICATEDIMENSIONS, POSITIONS AND KIND OF CONSTRUCTION. THESPECIFICATIONS WILL INDICATE QUALITIES AND METHODS. ANYWORK INDICATED ON THE WORKING DETAILS MENTIONED INTHE SPECIFICATIONS, OR VICE VERSA, SHALL BE FURNISHED ASTHOUGH FULLY SET FORTH IN BOTH. WORK NOT PARTICULARDETAILED, MARKED OR SPECIFIED, SHALL BE THE SAME ASSIMILAR PARTS THAT ARE DETAILED, MARKED OR SPECIFIED. IFCONFLICTS OCCUR BETWEEN DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS,THE MOST EXPENSIVE MATERIALS OR METHODS WILL PREVAIL.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS ANDCONDITIONS IN THE FIELD PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. IF ACONDITION NOT COVERED IN THE DRAWINGS IS ENCOUNTERED,OR IF A DIMENSIONAL ERROR IS FOUND, THE CONTRACTORSHALL NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT OR ENGINEER BEFORECOMMENCING WITH THAT PORTION OF THE WORK.
10. SHOULD AN ERROR APPEAR IN THE WORKING DETAILS ORSPECIFICATIONS OR IN WORK DONE BY OTHERS AFFECTING THISWORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT ORENGINEER AT ONCE AND IN WRITING. IF THE CONTRACTORPROCEEDS WITH THE WORK SO AFFECTED WITHOUT HAVINGGIVEN SUCH WRITTEN NOTICE AND WITHOUT RECEIVING THENECESSARY APPROVAL, DECISIONS OR INSTRUCTION IN WRITINGFROM THE OWNER, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE NO VALIDCLAIM AGAINST THE OWNER, FOR THE COST OF SO PROCEEDINGAND SHALL MAKE GOOD ANY RESULTING DAMAGE OR DEFECT.NO VERBAL APPROVAL, DECISION, OR INSTRUCTION SHALL BEVALID OR BE THE BASIS FOR ANY CLAIM AGAINST THE OWNER,ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES OR AGENTS. THE FOREGOINGINCLUDES TYPICAL ERRORS IN THE SPECIFICATIONS ORNOTATIONAL ERRORS IN THE WORKING DETAILS WHERE THEINTERPRETATIONS IS DOUBTFUL OR WHERE THE ERROR ISSUFFICIENTLY APPARENT AS TO PLACE A REASONABLY PRUDENTCONTRACTOR ON NOTICE THAT SHOULD IT BE ELECTED TOPROCEED, IT IS DONE SO AT THE CONTRACTOR’S OWN RISK.
11. WHERE NO SPECIFIC DETAILS IS SHOWN, THE CONSTRUCTIONSHALL BE IDENTICAL OR SIMILAR TO THAT INDICATED FORLIKE CASES OF CONSTRUCTION ON THIS PROJECT OR TOAPPROPRIATE STANDARDS OF WORKMANSHIP OFCONTEMPORARY CONSTRUCTION PRACTICES. SHOULDTHERE BE ANY QUESTIONS, CONTACT THE ARCHITECT ORENGINEER PRIOR TO PROCEEDING.
12. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE ARCHITECT ORENGINEER WHERE A CONFLICT OR A DISCREPANCY OCCURSBETWEEN THE DRAWINGS AND ANY OTHER PORTION OF THECONTRACT DOCUMENTS OR EXISTING FIELD CONDITIONS.SUCH NOTIFICATION SHALL BE GIVEN IN DUE TIME SO AS NOTTO AFFECT THE CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE. CONTRACTORSHALL VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS WITH THE DRAWINGS PRIORTO COMMENCING ANY WORK.
13. IT IS THE CONTRACTORS RESPONSIBILITY TO COMPLY WITHTHE PERTINENT SECTIONS, AS THEY APPLY TO THIS PROJECT,OF THE "CONSTRUCTION SAFETY ORDERS" ISSUED BY THESTATE OF ALASKA LATEST EDITION, AND ALL OSHAREQUIREMENTS. STORAGE OFFUEL, OIL, HYDRAULIC FLUID AND OTHER PETROLEUM OR COMBUSTIBLE PRODUCTS SHALL BE STOREDAND MAINTAINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ATTACHED SITE PLAN OR AT A LOCATION ACCEPTABLE TOTHE OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE.
9. ALL EQUIPMENT OWNED BY THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE KEPT IN GOOD REPAIR AT ALL TIMES. ALLPOWERED EQUIPMENT AND DRILL RIGS SHALL BE INSPECTED BEFORE AND AFTER EACH USE FOR ANY FUEL,HYDRAULIC OIL OR COOLANT LEAKS. THE USE OF POWERED EQUIPMENT WITH KNOWN LEAKS ISPROHIBITED. SITE CLEAN-UP OF ANY ACCIDENTAL PETROLEUM LEAKS OR SPILLS ARE THE RESPONSIBILITYOF THE CONTRACTOR AND SHALL BE REMEDIED IMMEDIATELY UPON DISCOVERY. ANY SPILL, REGARDLESSOF SIZE, MUST BE REPORTED TO THE OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE AS SOON AS PRACTICAL. IN ADDITION, THECONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS OF THE ADEC IN ACCORDANCE WITH 18 AAC 75.
10. REFUELING OR OTHER FLUID HANDLING ACTIVITIES MAY HAVE SPECIAL RESTRICTIONS IN SENSITIVE AREAS,SUCH AS WITHIN 100 FEET OF THE WELL. ACCEPTABLE LOCATIONS FOR SUCH ACTIVITIES, IF NOTIDENTIFIED IN THE SITE PLAN, SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE. ON-SITE SEPTIC SUBMITTALS SHALL INCLUDE SEPTIC TANK, SEPTIC TANK INSULATION,AND COATING, SEPTIC TANK RISERS, DISTRIBUTION BOXES, DRAINFIELD INFILTRATOR CHAMBERS AND ENDCAPS, ARCTIC PIPE AND FITTINGS, RIGID BOARD INSULATION, BACK FILL, PIPE BEDDING, AND DRAINFIELDSAND.
