In total, 112 interviews were conducted, representing 71% of the student population. If you were not able to make an interview last week, you can always schedule one in the next few weeks. Just contact your child’s teacher to organise a convenient time. It’s taken longer than expected, but the student toilets refreshment program is now complete. The toilets received new bowls/seats, mirrors, wash troughs, tiles and paint. Automatic lights and flush urinals were installed, and the floors and stall walls terrazzo has been polished. The DoE is now investigating an alternative floor, possibly industrial grade wet/ dry vinyl, which would complete the refreshment. Thank you to the School Council and P&C groups for persevering with this issue and supporting the school’s push for better facilities. The next focus for improvement will be the resurfacing of the school’s netball and basketball courts. National Tree Day

Students at Takari Primary School were keen to get a little bit wet and their hands dirty for a good cause. The school was supporting Planet Ark’s National Tree Day, promoting the importance trees have to life on Earth. With the generous support from Big Rock Toyota, students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 planted a variety of native trees around the school to sustain the environment and provide habitats for insects and birds. After all their hard work, students were rewarded with a delicious sausage sizzle lunch.

Councillor Andrew Guilfoyle lent a hand and helped students dig the holes and place the trees around the school. Students have been learning about the importance of trees not only for animals but for our own wellbeing. Research from Planet Ark reveals that being outside in nature makes us not only feel healthy but is good for our mental health, and now Takari students have added even more trees to help keep our environment green and happy.

Year 4/5 Breakfast Today it was the 20th of July and it was Year 4/5’s AMAZING breakfast. My group was Holly, Anny and Alexis and the main reason we did it was to learn how to work in groups. In our menu we had cereal, bacon and scrambled eggs, toast, apple and orange juice and Milo. We could not buy too much because it would be too expensive. We each paid $6.00. We all brought something to decorate the tables. Our table looked really nice once every one was there. I brought a table cloth and candles, Anny brought flowers and Holly brought some colouring in for us to do. We all had a fun time because we got to wear our PJ’s! We also had to bring our own cutlery and plates and bowls and then wash them after the breakfast. We had a great time. My favourite part about doing this was definitely making the place mats. We improved at working in groups by doing all the activities for the breakfast. Written by Cerise N

Today our class had a breakfast at Takari PS. In my group I had Zandyn, Ayden and Deycan. The breakfast was in Room 4. It started at 7:30am and finished at 8:30am on Friday 20/7/2018. Mrs Luckhurst promised to do a breakfast since term two, if we handed our homework in every week. I have handed in my homework every single week. We researched the cost of breakfast items and found out how healthy all of the food is. We made placemats and our breakfast menus. It was our first time we had worked as a team. We worked cooperatively. We had arguments, but we would sort them out. I really liked the breakfast and how Mrs Luckhurst got organised for the day. You could wear your pyjamas and then we changed in to our uniforms before school started. I felt it was really great fun and I enjoyed eating breakfast with my classmates. Written by Hristian D

Free Tennis Racquets

Takari PS is a registered Tennis Australia Partner School. As a partner school, we can apply for modified racquets for all our Pre- Primary students. This year, we were successful in our application. The racquets arrived last term and have been used by Pre Primary students in their Physical Education lessons. They will be used next term and then given to students at the end of the year to take home.

The program sponsor is ANZ Bank and recently the Innaloo Branch

Manager, Diane Franklin, and an assistant, visited our school to assist

in one of the lessons. Students were most appreciative of the racquets

and the help they received.

P&C Pen Thanks so much to everyone who attended the P&C meetings held at 9am and 7pm! We now have a solid plan for this term! We are really excited about the Faction Carnival and the Interschool Carnival. We would really love your help on the day with lunch if you can! We will be putting a notice board outside the front office where you can write your details if you can help us on either day or both! Very exciting news, we have a bike as the major prize for the raffle that we are running over both carnivals. You can see it at the next assembly where Mr Tennant is going to show it off! School Bankers still have a chance to enter the Super Savers Grand Prize competition, where one lucky student will win a family trip to Hawaii. To be eligible, kids need to make at least 15 School Banking deposits before the end of Term 3. Good luck everyone! Please, if you have a spare 30 mins on Wednesday morning 8.30-9.00, Michelle would love some help at the uniform shop as she is currently the only one there. Please come have a chat on Tuesday at school banking if you are keen to help out this term at either of the carnivals or the Father’s Day stall! Or sign up on the board in the front office. We really appreciate anytime you can give to help make your child’s adventures at Takari Primary School filled with fun and full of awesome memories! Trish Burgess, P&C President
