their work anniversaries in July:

FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK!
TACU has a Facebook page! Check it out regularly for fun ways
to be smart with your money!
NO SURCHARGES!
Find fee free ATMs by using www.allianceone.coop
to find compatible ATM machines in your area.
Try to make deposits before the credit union closes to avoid
over-drafting your account. Remember that any deposits placed in the
night deposit box have until 10 am the next business day to be pro-
cessed.
Take this into account:
6:00 pm- You deposit your $500 paycheck in the TACU night deposit
box. You only have $15 in your account.
10:23 pm-You make an electronic withdrawal to pay your water bill
using Bill Pay. Your bill costs $28. You make the payment
assuming the night deposit payment will go through before
the bill payment.
3:22 am– The bill payment goes through, causing your account to
overdraft and you incur fees.
9:55 am– The paycheck placed in the night deposit box goes through,
but it is too late… you already over-drafted from your
account.

ATM & Debit Card Safety
Your Visa Debit/ATM Card is a simple, hassle-free way
to get cash, make deposits, transfer funds, make purchases and more.
To enjoy the many conveniences online banking offers,
you should make ATM/debit card safety a priority. Here are some important safety tips.
ATM/Debit Card Safety
Always keep your card in a safe place.
Keep your PIN a secret. Memorize your pin.
Never write your PIN on your card or store your PIN with your card. Never let someone else enter your
pin for you.
Do not give card information out over the
phone. Never give out your PIN. No company or individual needs to know your PIN, not even TACU.
Never disclose information about your card in
response to an unsolicited email or request.
Email is a common channel for fraud perpetration.
Never provide your debit or credit card information, PIN or any other non-public personal information to
any entity in response to an unsolicited email or request.
Make certain your internet shopping sites are
secure. Look for secure transaction symbols when
shopping online to ensure your account information
is protected. Always log off from any site after you make a purchase. (see sidebar)
Protect your card’s magnetic strip. Do not
expose your card’s magnetic strip to magnetic
objects—it can damage the card.
If your card becomes lost or stolen report it
immediately to TACU. Prompt action will limit potential liability for unauthorized transactions.
Review your account statements for
unauthorized transactions. Report any errors as soon as possible to limit your potential liability.
Debit Card PIN Security
Never allow the cashier or any other person to enter
your PIN for you, even if they are assisting you with the transaction.
Block the view of others when using a PIN debit
terminal.
Be certain the transaction is complete and review
your receipt before leaving.
ATM Safety
Observe the ATM surroundings before
conducting a transaction. If you drive to an ATM, park as close as possible to the terminal.
Keep your car doors locked. Leave immediately if anything appears suspicious.
If the ATM is poorly lit or hidden from view
go to another ATM.
If you need to use an ATM at night, try and
take another person with you.
Keep the time you spend at the ATM to a
minimum. Have your card out and ready to use. Do not allow a stranger to assist you with your
transaction, even if you have trouble or your card gets stuck. When your transaction is complete, put
your card and money away and immediately leave
the area. Never count your money while at the ATM.
Block the view of others when using the ATM.
Stand between the ATM and anyone waiting to use
the terminal. Shield the keypad when you enter your PIN and transaction amount.
If you see anyone or anything suspicious,
cancel your transaction and leave the area
right away. Go to a well-lit area and call the police
immediately. Look for possible fraudulent devices attached to the ATM. Check for any attachments or
alterations to the card slot or keypad and if there are, DO NOT USE THE ATM, if possible call the
financial institution that operates the ATM.
These signals indicate that you have
entered a secure Web page:
A screen notice that says you are visiting a
secure site.
A closed lock or unbroken key in the bottom
corner of your screen.
The first letters of the internet address you
are viewing change from “http” to “https”.

Whether you are heading out on a road trip or getting on a plane,
here are 5 tips for smart traveling this summer:
1. Alert us and your credit card company if you are traveling
(especially overseas). Fraud departments are becoming more
vigilant about unusual activity on credit cards. If they see
transactions being done in a foreign place, the company may
freeze your account while on vacation.
2. Hold the mail. Ask someone you trust to collect your mail every
day or have the post office temporarily stop delivery.
Accumulating mail is a green light for identity thieves.
3. Don’t announce your vacation on Facebook. If you choose
to, keep it vague. Don’t give exact dates. If you do, you are
practically giving an open invitation to thieves.
4. Protect your wallet. Many pickpockets target tourist areas, so
never carry your social security number with you and carry only
credit and debit cards. Be sure to make copies of all important
documents and store them in the hotel safe.
5. Be careful with ATMs. To avoid illicit card readers capturing pin
numbers and other sensitive information, use ATMs at credit
union or bank branches while traveling.
