TSPLOST is a Rip off of the Taxpayers
Projects are for government special interests. County airports, municipalities, etc.
Home Rule in the Georgia Constitution is destroyed. There are rules and ordinances at the county and municipal level that are not duplicated at the Region Level.
Hurts poor, elderly, and infirm.
Home Rule and Voting
There are rules and ordinances at the county and municipal level that are not duplicated at the Region Level.
This new entity has the power of Eminent Domain.
This new entity has police power.
Forsyth County has no say in any decision.
Voter Disenfranchisement
Largest percentage of voter turn-out is in Forsyth, Hall, and Union account for 51,390 votes in 2010 Primary or 60% of the Region.
66% percent of the voters in all other counties must vote NO for T-SPLOST if Forsyth, Hall, and Union vote 60% YES.
Summary
There is a money problem. T-SPLOST is a 1% tax on all items except
motor gasoline. You will never get back what you collect. The voters are disenfranchised. What is a solution?
Increase the MUFT.
Cut costs at GDOT.
Increase the mix of excise and fuel sales tax to increase the MUFT from $21.2 cents to $50.1 cents. They would raise more money and those breaking up the roads, truckers and drivers, would contribute.
