Almost all couples who attend a Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend say: “We should have done this a long time ago!” Why?

Their whole relationship became more alive on the Week-end, and the Weekend reminded them of what it was like as newlyweds. The next WWME weekends away are Sep. 21-23, 2018 or Nov. 30-Dec 2 at the Courtyard Mar-riot in St. Peters, MO; and Nov. 16-18, 2018 at the Chiara Center in Springfield, IL. If you would like to apply or get more information, go to www.stl-wwme or call 314.649.7317.

Dear Parishioners,

We begin another season of the Rite of Chris an Ini a-on of Adults, or R.C.I.A. This process, which has been

explained in the last few bulle ns, is the method by which non-bap zed men and women can enter the Cath-olic Church. It is also for those adults who have been bap zed in another Chris an faith and who would like to become Catholic. And, it is a process for those bap zed Catholics, but not educated in the Catholic faith and who have not yet received the Sacraments of Confirma on and First Holy Communion.

The en re parish community is invited to be a part of the R.C.I.A. process, not just in welcoming or sponsoring new members, but also by encouraging anyone you know to become Catholic. You can bring to our a en on those you think might be open to come and see what we are all about. No doubt some in your own circle have witnessed how your faith animates you and have come to experi-ence a desire for a share in the life of God and the Church.

If you know of anyone who might be interested in learn-ing more about our Catholic faith, invite them to come and see. Also, if you are interested in helping with R.C.I.A. this year, please contact me at the parish office or call Laura Marlo at 636-346-7983. Sessions will begin soon. We are looking forward to another year of spiritual growth and deepening our rela onship with Christ and with others.

God’s blessings to you and your family!

THIS EUCHARISTIC FEAST

Some things about human nature don’t change, even over the course of centuries. When we celebrate a holiday, we have a meal; when we celebrate a significant event, we have a feast. In today’s first reading, Lady Wisdom is se ng a feast, a sign of celebra ng the covenant that Israel has with God. Israel’s central remembrance of its saving Exodus covenant is the Passover meal. So it is natural—and not coincidental—that the Chris an celebra on of the new cove-nant sealed by the blood of Christ on the cross happens at a meal, our Eucharist, offered first by Jesus in the context of Passover remembrance. It is easy for us, some mes, to forget the very long and rich religious and human origins of our eucharis c feas ng on the bread and cup that are the Body and Blood of Jesus. Today, and for the next few Sundays that we hear the “Bread of Life” discourse from John, let us bring to mind the loving covenant that God makes with us, and be filled with great joy at this marvelous feast that we have come to a end!

WE OFFER PRAYERS FOR OUR SICK

Come to me all who are weary...and I will refresh you. Mt 11:28

One of the more challenging tasks we have is to pur-chase someone a car. Recently, a woman needed a car to flee from an abusive situa on. Her partner was in jail and she did not want to be around when he was re-leased. We gave her an older car with many miles. It wasn't the greatest vehicle on the road, but she was ec-sta c when she was able to drive away in it.

If you are in need of help or know someone in need, please call (314) 289-6101, mailbox 2265. Leave us a message. If you would like to support the work of St. Vincent de Paul, please make your check payable to St. Vincent de Paul So-ciety and drop it in the collection basket. Thank you for your support.

Calling all those who are interested in becoming Catholics! RCIA – The Rite of Chris an Ini a on for Adults

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, or RCIA, is a process by which non-baptized men and women enter the Catholic Church. It’s also for those adults who might have been born Catholic but were not formally educated in the Catholic faith.

The RCIA process involves several stages marked by group study and discussion, personal prayer, and various rites that are celebrated at Mass. For those participating, it is a steady journey of personal con-version as they study the Gospel, grow their faith in Jesus Christ and their knowledge of the Catholic Church, and ultimately receive the sacraments of baptism, confirmation, reconciliation, and Holy Eucha-rist. The RCIA process follows the ancient practice of the Church and was restored by the Second Vati-can Council as the standard way in which adults prepare for full communion with the Church. You can also check out the St. Louis Archdiocese website on RCIA at http://archstl.org/becomingcatholic.

Summer is quickly drawing to a close, and this season's RCIA sessions will start in September. You can sign up now by contacting Laura Marlo at 636-346-7983. Come and see!
