RESPECT LIFE COMMITTEE

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has designated Sunday, October 7, as Respect Life Sunday, a day especially

dedicated to promote the Respect and Dignity of all Human Life and as a start to this year’s Respect Life Program. On the

weekend of October 6-7, we will have our third Spiritual Adoption. Parishioners are asked to choose a name for your

spiritually adopted child in the womb of its mother, who may be considering abortion, and write the child’s name on a holy card

as well as on a sheet of paper which can be found in pews. The sheets will be tied together with a blue ribbon and placed on Our Lady’s altar for nine months. We ask that you say daily the short

prayer on your holy card over the nine month period ending in July. Each month you will see several messages on your baby’s

progress. At the end of the nine months, the sheets of paper with the names of the babies will be placed on the main altar and all the spiritually adopted children will be prayed for at a special

mass in July.

Our Mission Statement We, the Body of Christ: St. Anselm Parish in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, rejoice in our parish’s more than 80 years of service to God, our Church, our country, and our community. As Christ is Priest, Prophet, and King, we celebrate the sacramental life of the Church, proclaim the Word of God, and serve the needs of our parishioners and neighbors always with faith, hope, and charity. Walking with Christ, we accept the challenge to call all people to worship, to teach all nations His Truth, and to love one another as He has loved us.
