Grant, who left to ac- cept the position of pastor at Balfour Baptist Church in Hen- dersonville. Gay received his Ph.D. in crim- inal justice from Sam Houston State University and holds a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Texas. He also holds two undergraduate de- grees in theology from Tennessee Temple University. Before moving to Sylva, Gay was a Dallas, Texas, police officer for five years and a deputy con- stable for two years. Before going into policing, Gay was a former pastor and evangelist. Originally from Raleigh, Gay currently serves as an assistant professor of criminal justice at Western Carolina University, where he teaches courses on law enforcement, criminal investiga- tions and police tactical theory. He also serves as faculty advisor for Campus Crusade for Christ. He and his wife, Kathleen, have been married for 16 years. She is a teacher of first grade at Camp Lab School.     Lovedale Baptist Church has named Bruce Gay as interim pastor following the resignation of Pastor J.D. Grant, who left to accept the position of pastor at Balfour Baptist Church in Hendersonville.

    Gay received his Ph.D. in criminal justice from Sam Houston State University and holds a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Texas. He also holds two undergraduate degrees in theology from Tennessee Temple University.

    Before moving to Sylva, Gay was a Dallas, Texas, police officer for five years and a deputy constable for two years. Before going into policing, Gay was a former pastor and evangelist.
