Mr. Will GrindallDirector of Institutional MarketsArmstrong International221 Armstrong Blvd.Three Rivers, MI 49093

Will,

Marriott International has selected The Brain DRV80 Digital Re-Circulating Valve from Armstrong International, as its corporate standard domestic hot water temperature control device for all brands of Marriott Hotels. We have selected the DRV80 since it is a fully digital recirculation valve (DRV) designed specifically to be the primary water temperature controller in a continuously pumped recirculating hot water system.

The sizing criteria, as stated in Module 15B in the January 2011 Marriott Design Standards for all brands requires one Model DRV80R-BS1-DS Digital Re-Circulating Valve from Armstrong for hot water systems with a maximum simultaneous demand (MSD) < 94 GPM. For systems with a MSD up to 188 GPM provide two DRV80R-BS1-DS valves piped in parallel. Designer and installer may also consider a fully pre-piped “Digital Mixing Center” (DMC1-BS1-DS & DMC2-BS1-DS).

The previous Marriott Design Standards called for two Armstrong DRV80 digital mixing valves piped in parallel for each hot water system. Installation to be piped and pressure tested and complete with isolation valves, strainers, mixed return flow indicator, check valves, thermometers, mixed outlet water sensor per manufacturer. System to have remote set point adjustment capability for connection to Building Automation System (BAS).

Please feel free to advise all parties involved in hot water system design and installation for all Marriott projects that, Module 15B of the 2011 Marriott Design Standard, is now in effect and should be strictly adhered to.
