9th grade teams -ALL Offenses and Defenses Allowed No shot clock and NO 3point shot

7th and 8th grade teams - No shot clock or 3 point shot and or double teaming or zone defenses allowed. Pressing allowed in the last 2 min of each quarter. (If up by 10 or more points = NO PRESS.)

Officials are being reminded that there can be incidental contact with the elbow above or below the shoulders.

Not all contact with the elbow is a foul regardless of where it makes contact.

The official will not be calling fouls any differently than what has been done in the past. The official’s judgment still determines what is legal/illegal contact.

Excessive Swinging of ElbowsThe following shall be considered excessive swinging:a. When arm(s) and elbow(s) are swung about while using the shoulders as pivots, and the speed of the extended arm(s) and elbow(s) exceeds that of the rest of the body as it rotates on the hips or on the pivot foot; orb. When the speed and vigor with which the arm(s) and elbow(s) are swung is such that injury could result if another player were contacted.

Rulings

Contact occurs above the shoulders of an opponent flagrant 1 or flagrant 2 personal foul.

Contact occurs below the shoulders of an opponent common, flagrant 1 or flagrant 2 personal foul.

Officiating crews must take every opportunity to communicate effectively.
