This Site is located on the outskirts of Amritsar approached by Bye pass Road towards Attari Village.

It is on the rear side of GNDU Campus.

The Holy city Amritsar is ranked 12th among major tourist destinations in India and opening of the Heritage Village will revive the old charm of Punjabs villages which used to showcase various religions.

The location of the village on the road to the Attari-Wagah joint checkpost would come in handy to the thousands of tourists heading to witness the Retreat Ceremony.

It would include shops of potter, blacksmith, carpenter, dhaba and an akhara, a traditional wrestling place. These shops would not only prepare traditional items but would sell these to the interested visitors. A block had been reserved for holding a mela, which used to be an integral part of the rural life. Interested tourists could also stay there, as nearly 20 rooms are being constructed for staying purpose.

As per the ancient tradition of Punjab, the village would have a "khera" (first house dedicated to God with no idol inside) and "Gugga Marri" (snake shrine). These shrines used to be built first before the setting up of a new village.

Method of Studies to be followed:

Firstly keeping in mind the limitations and difficulties, the precise architecturally relevant area and extent of research that is attempted to understand the concept of a Heritage Village will be identified.

Literature Study will help us to learn about the standards of Punjabi Culture.

Referring books on the village studies we will come to know the aspects being followed while designing.

Live Case Studies will help to identify and analyze the problems and drawbacks of the same, as well as will help in resolving architectural solutions to be imparted in designing process.

These observations, experiments and questionnaires will give the clarity to the detailed methodology to be adopted while designing.

Designing and Planning of Heritage village will meet the requirements with proper areas, circulation without compromising the aura of Punjabi Culture.

To preserve it to keep the future generations aware of the history and culture of Punjab.
