    Synchronous Ethernet Transport over E-Link 1000EXR

    The E-Link 1000 radio family is capable of transporting Synchronous Ethernet using thecurrently implemented methods covered in IETF 1588 and ITU-G.8261, and other methods using

    Adaptive Clock Recovery. Each of these methods maintain clock synchronization that eitheruses characteristics of the GigE line coding scheme (8B/10B) or an exchange of timing

    information (consisting of packets) between network elements. The E-Link solution sends theraw Gigabit Ethernet data bits over the air without inspecting any of the bits or packets. We do

    not affect the timing these bits represent. E-Link keeps the entire payload in its native format

    and transparently sends those bits across to the other end of the link. Any timing, jitter, orwander is detected by the network elements, using the above methods, and changes are

    automatically compensated for.

    E-Band Communications Corp. has tested E-Link radios with a large PWE vendor that supportsall three of these protocols, and all were passed/approved. The clock recovery results presentedbelow are compared to the G.823 Sync mask taken from section 6.2.3 of G.823. This mask is

    actually meant to be used with E1 signals but it provides a point-of-reference for this document.
