Sylacauga High School Future Business Leaders of America

FBLA Members: Sylacauga High School has once again had a fantastic year, creating and inspiring the future endeavors of all our FBLA members. FBLA has made an incredible impact on Sylacauga by extending our philanthropic efforts across the community. In addition, our participation in state and national programs allow our diverse group of members to succeed in all capacities.

Sylacauga FBLA has determined that community service is a beneficial way to provide members the opportunity to create valuable partnerships within our community, lead other members in committing to valuable service opportunities, and use their own achievements to inspire the success of the Sylacauga community. We have greatly enjoyed participating in many service projects, such as contributions to the March of Dimes foundation through the photo booth and coin drive, volunteering for Sylacauga’s Promise School Supply Drive, Ala-bama Childhood Food Solutions, the March of Dimes March for Babies, Nemak Family Fun Day, the Rhizo Kids Foundation, Relay for Life, and more. We also have made contributions to the Alabama FBLA - PBL Foundation. To top off this fantastic year, Sylacauga FBLA successfully continued the partnership with SAFE Family Services by developing and leading a 5 week Workforce Development Curriculum to create a five point strategic plan on how to aid members of the Sylacauga community on becoming more employable. This partnership bridged a gap between members of the Sylacauga community and the local businesses and organizations in Talladega county.

Our chapter has been greatly involved in multiple state and national programs. Sylacau-ga FBLA completed the Chapter Challenge by participating in Super Sweeps, Non-Stop November, and Action Awareness. In addition, we received the Diamond Chapter and Outstanding Chapter status. We participated in our state’s Blueprint for Success and Out-standing Chapter programs in addition to submitting an application for the Alabama FBLA District Scholarship and the Who’s Who award. Sylacauga FBLA participated in a number of local, state, and national conferences where members created numerous business and lead-ership skills as well as broadened our connections with other chapters by networking at the District V workshop and the Joint Leadership Development Conference.

On behalf of the 2018-2019 Local Chapter Executive Committee and Officer Team, I thank all 175 members for making Sylacauga FBLA a huge success. Without your hard work, perseverance, determined attitude, and commitment to inspiring others, we could not have accomplished the abundant number of goals we set for this school year. I am extremely pleased and confident that Sylacauga FBLA will continue to create new partnerships, lead others towards service, and inspire the successful futures of our members and the rest of our community at the local, state, and national levels in years to come. Sincerely,

Grace Abernathy, President Sylacauga High School FBLA
