Not only does the City2Surf bring together families & friends honouring their precious babies and bringing much needed awareness to Bears Of Hope, it also promotes health and wellbeing.

About Bears Of Hope Pregnancy & Infant Loss SupportBears Of Hope provides leading support and exceptional care for families who experience the loss of their baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal or infant loss. This includes our early support initiative - donating bears and support packages to families within days of their loss as well as offering a range of services through our Beyond the Bear support program including Counselling, Grief Workshops, Wellbeing Groups and Community Events. We can only continue this through community fundraising each year as we do not receive any Government funding. We truly appreciate your support.

This means tens of thousands of parents may need support every year in Australia.

We have mums & dads, grandparents, aunties & uncles and friends all express how wonderful an opportunity it is to honour a baby so close to their heart in this way, to support a friend through their loss by joining them on the day, or just to be able to give back and help other bereaved families.

The City2Surf is our favourite annual sporting event and with thanks to our new and returning supporters, Bears Of Hope are able to help reach more families through the incredible fundraising platform that this event provides.

The City2Surf is a 14km scenic course starting in Sydney’s CBD, finishing at beautiful Bondi Beach. Approximately 80,000 people from all ages participate in this iconic event each year.

Date: Sunday 9th August 2020 (2nd Sunday in August)

Location: Hyde Park to Bondi Beach

The City2Surf campaign funds our early support initiative each year– our bear and support packages donated within hours or days of a family’s loss, even years later when no support was provided. This also funds our Baby Keepsake books donated to hospitals for parents to record their baby’s precious details and store mementos including photos, hand/foot prints and locks of hair.

Our support packages and keepsake books are an instant connection with our support services; lessening the challenge for parents to find a

place to start for support and facilitating their grief right from the very beginning.

$50,000.00 will support at least 500 families with a bear of hope and support package, as well as a baby keepsake book.

Each year, Bears of Hope donates over 3000 bears and support packages Australia wide.

The City2Surf fundraising event is a major contributor to assisting with funding this vital early support program.

Highest Individual Fundraiser

A trophy will be awarded to the individual who raises the highest amount.

Please note: If there are 2 people sharing the one fundraising page, the individual fundraising total is worked out by dividing the total raised in half.

Highest Team Fundraiser

A trophy will be awarded to the team who raises the highest amount.

Please note: Teams must have members with their own individual fundraising page/s unless sharing with one other person.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

1. You are eligible to receive the incentives if:

• You have created your own individual fundraising page, or you are sharing a fundraising page with one other fundraiser only. Team members should create their own online fundraising page as part of the team page.

• Your fundraising page was created under the official City2Surf Everyday Hero fundraising platform.

2. For every $100 you raise, a bear of hope/resource pack and a baby keepsake are donated in honour of a baby special to you.

3. In order for shirts to be printed and posted in time for the event we require you to reach $300 by Friday 10th July (4 weeks out from event). We will still honour the incentive if you reach it after this date, however, we just cannot guarantee your shirt will arrive in time.

4. Please complete this Free Shirt Order Form as soon as you reach your preferred shirt incentive.

5. Shirts and caps will not be posted after the campaign closing date Sunday 6th September 2020.

6. Incentives are based on the total amount you personally raise and are not cumulative amount.

Each person participating must register in the event via the official City2surf website.

During registration, you will be given the option to support a charity with a fundraising page. If you have already created your fundraising page prior to registration, please skip this option. Otherwise, you can create your fundraising page during this process by searching through the list and selecting our organisation to support.

If you are walking/running with others, it is best to work out a starting group before registering so that you all register at the same point.

You can fundraise as an individual or as a team, with team members individual fundraising pages linked to the team page.

Teams/Team Members

Create your own fundraising team page and have your family and friends join your team.

Team leaders will need to do this first.

Team Leader – Visit our City2Surf Campaign

• Click on the Start Fundraising button and follow the prompts to create your own individual fundraising page first.

• Once completed, on the right-hand side of your new individual page, click on the Create a New Team button and follow the prompts to create your team page. Send out your team page link to all your team members.

Team Members – Visit the team page provided by your team leader

• Click on the “join team” button and follow the prompts to create your own individual fundraising page linked to the team page.

• If your individual page is not linked to your team page, visit the team page you wish to join, and click on Join Team. Make sure you are signed into your account first. Your team leader may then need to accept you.

• Alternatively, if you create your fundraising page during the event registration process, you can directly select to ‘Join a team’, search for the team by the name, and select to join.

Leader boardsWe have 2 leader boards displayed on our City2Surf Campaign Page – one is for Individuals and the other for teams. Help stay motivated and keep up to date with your friends, team/s and other participants by checking back regularly! The leader board is always updating and also shows the total funds raised over the whole campaign.

Community fundraising (offline) We invite you to hold a community fundraiser to compliment your online fundraising such as a coin box collection (placed at a local business), workplace fundraiser, raffle etc. Coin box collections are very easy and can bring in an extra few hundred dollars over the months.

You will first need to complete a fundraising application form and be issued an Authority to Fundraise letter from Bears Of Hope with a unique fundraising number.

3. Our Community Fundraising Liaison will be in touch to discuss your fundraiser and issue an Authority To Fundraise on our behalf

Add offline fundraising money to your online total

Any funds raised offline cannot be added to your fundraising page via the donation link. You will need to first bank your funds raised into the Bears Of Hope account, in compliance with our Fundraising Rules. This amount will be communicated with the City2Surf Fundraising Liaison and added to your City2Surf total in our records. Please make sure you advise the Community Fundraising Liaison that you are fundraising for the City2Surf.

All resources will need to be returned to finalise your City2Surf fundraiser.

Fundraising closing dateCity2Surf fundraising for Bears Of Hope will finish on Sunday 6th September 2020.

This means that all donations need to have been received and any community fundraising must be finalised and banked prior to this date.

We will organise the bears and the keepsake books to be actioned AFTER this date.

Please make sure we have your baby’s details (if relevant) to donate the bears and keepsake books in their honour. If we don’t receive contact by this date, your funds raised will go towards the general objectives of our organisation.

Meeting pointBears Of Hope organise a meeting point before the event for the opportunity to meet with other Bears Of Hope supporters and representatives as well as have some photographs taken.

Details about the locations and times will be communicated with you closer to the event.

We would love all our supporters wearing Bears Of Hope shirts on the day. They are a real stand out in the crowd; helping us provide more awareness of our charity as well as the opportunity to acknowledge a precious baby.

If you do not reach the fundraising incentive to receive a free shirt you can purchase your shirt or hat separately. Shirts can be personalised or non-personalised.

Please complete the online shirt order form asap so that we have your order ready for when you hit the fundraising incentive. That way we can place your order straight away when you do.

We require you to reach your free shirt incentive & complete your order form by Friday 10th July 2020 (4 weeks out from the event) to allow time for printing and posting.

Purchase a Shirt or Cap

Bears Of Hope shirts, singlets and caps can be purchased at any time if you do not reach the fundraising incentive or you have friends and family joining you who are not fundraising.

To guarantee you will receive your shirt before the event, payment must be received through our website store by Monday 13th July 2020. Please note that we do our best to get them to you on time if orders are placed after 13th July, however there are no guarantees as this is our busiest time.

There is also the opportunity for fundraisers (who reach their shirt incentive) to purchase cheaper shirts for children participating in the event.
