The strawberry juice splattered everywhere!

t lunch one day,

Maya Oduyoye

had a

big bag

of juicy

strawberries. When

she put the

strawberries on the

table, she

accidently put her elbow on

the bag. Then the bag popped

and strawberry juice

splattered everywhere.

Everybody laughed at

her . She even laughed

at herself. Then her

friends helped her clean

the strawberry juice up.

It was a really fun day

at lunch. But this got

Maya thinking “What

IS the best ziploc

bag?”.

Overview If you went to the store, you

would see different brands of

ziploc bags.

But you

wouldn’t

know which is

the best. The

Sycamore

Reports

testing team tested three

different brands of ziploc

bags. They are Hefty, Ziploc,

and Kroger. We tested their

strength. All three are

available at Kroger (although

you could find other bags at

Costco and Wal-Mart).

Test description First, we blew up a bag with

air. Next we balanced

weights on it. If it held the

air, we would put up to 60

pounds more weight on top

of it. If it still held the air, a

weighed tester would stand

on it until it popped.

Recommendations

We believe your decision in

which bag to buy comes

down to how much money

you have and how much each

bag needs to hold.

The Hefty storage bags cost

the most money but are the

strongest. If you need the

strongest bag, we recommend

buying Hefty bags because

they have more strength than

the other bags. If you need

the cheapest bag we

recommend the Kroger bags.

If you have enough money

and can afford Hefty bags,

they would be the best idea.

If you want NOT the most

expensive bags, but still good

ones, then we recommend

Ziploc bags.

She says she will never go there again!

here once was a

little girl named

Norah. She went

to the

airport. She

went to the

bathroom, then

she felt the toilet

paper. It was

rough, rough, rough! She

says she will never go there

again! Norah started

wondering what toilet

paper was soft

(she wished

that was what

everybody had,

medium, rough,

and very rough

(which she

wished nobody

had). Norah

wished she

never had to

feel rough

toilet paper

again

Overview We tested

toilet paper.

You can get

toilet paper at

Costco,

Kroger,

Target, Wal-

mart,

Walgreens or

order it

online. There

are many

different

kinds of toilet

paper. There is Charmin,

Kroger, Angelsoft, Quilted

Northern, Cottonelle,

Trader Joe’s, Marcal and

White Cloud.

The Sycamore

Reports testing

team chose

Angelsoft,

Charmin and

Kroger to test.

Test description We grabbed 3 different

toilet papers and one

blindfold. We put the

blindfold on the tester. We

handed the toilet paper to

the tester. The tester rubbed

it on their cheek. The tester

gave the 3 toilet papers a

rating 1, 2 or 3. We

recorded the results .

Test result We could clearly see that

Charmin won in first place.

Angelsoft came in second.

Finally, Kroger came in

third.

Recommendations Kroger is the best because

it’s cheap and it’s almost as

good as Angelsoft on

softness. Charmin is

expensive but great on

softness. Angelsoft is okay

on the price but a little

better on softness than

Kroger.

We all would prefer a soft

toilet paper. But because

Charmin is the most

expensive, we’d have to

recommend Kroger or

Angelsoft (unless you want

really soft toilet paper).

“I wish we had stronger bags.”

enjamin

Margolis, a 2nd

graders at

Blue Ash

Elementary, was

taking out the trash

from the kitchen.

He had to walk 20 yards to

the trash cans

in the garage.

But, Ben

slipped and out

flew old toys,

air hockey

pucks, and

smelly banana

peels. The

scent was

strong! Ben

thought “Yuck! I wish we

had stronger bags.”

Overview

The

Sycamore

Reports

team had

tested garbage bags. In

stores now, there are many

kinds of garbage bags. But

our team only tested

Envirobag, Glad, and

Kroger.

Test description The Sycamore Reports

testing team got partners.

The testers tested 3 brands

of trash bags. They were

Kroger, Glad, and

Envirobags. They put

weights in the bags and

lifted the bags. We

recorded how much weight

they could take.

Recommendations If you want to pay less

AND use a good garbage

bag, you would want to

buy Envirobags because

they are inexpensive and

strong.

If you want the best

garbage bag, that works

really well try Glad bags

because they are the

strongest bag we tested.

You’d probably get Kroger

bags if you just want to buy

bags really fast and leave!

The next morning, the diaper was leaking

lbaraa Tarabishi,

a second grader

at Symmes

Element

ary, has a baby

sister. One

morning, his

mother did not

change the baby’s

diaper because the baby

was sleeping. The next

morning, the diaper was

leaking because there was

too much liquid in it. That

got Albaraa thinking

“Which diaper holds the

most liquid?”.

Overview Right now, Huggies,

Krogers, Pampers,

Kirkland, Luvs and other

brands are available at

stores in the diaper section

The Sycamore reports

testing team chose

Huggies,

Pampers,

and Kroger.

Test

description We had three different

diaper brand. The team

used water, food coloring,

and cups. We put yellow

food coloring in a bucket of

water to make it look you

just went to the bathroom.

We poured 3 ounces of

water in each diaper and

waited to see how long it

would take until you could

see the water dripping out

the diaper. We recorded

our observations and the

amount of water on a sheet

of paper.

Test result Huggies held the most. It

held 19. 5 ounces of water.

Pampers held the second

most with 16.5 and Kroger

brand held the least amount

of water. It held 15

ounces.

Recommendations Pampers cost

the most. The second most

expensive is Huggies and

the Kroger diapers cost the

third most. We recommend

Huggies because it holds

the most liquid and it’s

NOT the most expensive. .
