Transcript of Switchback Gear Exchange Increase wouldnt affect them exceptionally, as none of their employees make...
Switchback Gear Exchange• Increase wouldn’t affect them exceptionally, as none of their
employees make minimum wage and cost of used goods doesn’t have a set market price
• 30 percent of their clientele are NMU students• Prices would possibly increase slightly• Not informed enough to say if in support, but chains could
increase prices more easily• Different seasons wouldn’t affect wage increase because
people will continue to recreate no matter what
Downwind Sports• Increase of minimum wage would cause most employees to lose
their jobs and the business would go back to being run by the owners.
• Guestimate 1/3 of customers are NMU Students• Most of their gear is price-monitored by companies, so most
likely yes, and they would be forced to drop certain brands• Not sure if in favor of increase, $1 or $1.50 would be manageable
but $12-15 is not sustainable in the UP• Spring and Fall are usually slow and used for stocking store,
people lose hours then as it is, so those seasons would be affected even greater
Dunhams Sports• An increase in minimum wage would lead to many people losing
their job• Guestimate 15-20 percent of their customers are NMU Students• Increasing prices would be the alternate of laying people off.
Raising of prices would negate the effect a minimum wage increase would have. Dictated by competition
• Not in support of minimum wage increase. Doesn’t pay anyone besides trainees minimum wage. Willing to pay people that much IF QUALIFIED.
• During winter it’s slow and people get cut from 20-24 hours down to 7 per week. Would see rough patch during those times especially.
