Taree Torpedoes Swim Club

Rules and Bye Laws The summer swimming season shall commence the first Wednesday after

the SeptOct school holidays The program to be drawn up by a Sub-Committee nominated and then submitted to the meeting held in July for discussion at the August meeting

The committee may as occasion demands appoint or approve a sub committee to conduct any business they recommend

The value of trophies awarded throughout the season shall be decided by the committee or sub committee appointed by the committee

Method of conducting races and awarding points shall be recommended each year by the management committee This committee shall approve all grade times

All club members winning a State Country or Australian Swimming or Diving title shall receive a trophy of recognition from the club

All entries for club races shall be made according to the Race Secretaryrsquos direction subject to the Committees approval

All fees for carnival event entries must accompany completed entry forms and be held together securely and given to the Race Secretary or the Race Secretary shall be at liberty to refuse to consider the entry

The abandonment or postponement of club races shall be a matter for the decision of the President or his nominee made at the pool at the ldquotime of commencementrdquo of the meet

Wet Club nights will be the decision of the president or secretary at 530pm with the management of the MALC Notification will be by Facebook Team App and over the radio

Taree Torpedoes Club colours shall be black and yellowgold

Club rules may be revised at an annual general meeting and alterations must be by two thirds the majority of the members present

Second claim members are not eligible to break Taree club records Second claim members will be eligible to participate in point score events and also championship events providing they swim at least 50 of club nights from time of registration In the event of placing in these categories they will be awarded separately to full members

Non-swimming members fees are $30 The non-swimmer fee covers you for insurance on our club events It is a policy of our club that all children under the age of 18 must have at a minimum of one parent or carer registered with the club and be available to attend club nights This is to assist with the management of the club nights eg timekeeping BBQ and covers affiliation and insurance at club events

Second Claim member fees are $3500 this year payable through Swim Central

5 CLUB MEETINGS

Our club can only function with the support from membersparentscarers and

swimmers This can be provided in many ways including timekeeping recording

fundraising and by actively

participating in monthly meetings

All are most welcome at meetings Meetings are held at Manning Aquatic

Leisure Centre on the second Monday of each month at 530pm (see website)

unless otherwise notified

Taree Torpedoes Swimming Club

This season Taree Torpedoes will be hosting a Qualifying Meet

Club members are encouraged to ldquoSave the daterdquo-Friday amp Saturday 6th amp 7th

November 2020 Swimmers are encouraged to enter to help make this a

successful meet and all parents will be encouraged to help run the carnival

SNSW COUNTRY REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Will be Hosted By Taree Torpedoes Saturday amp Sunday 23rd amp24th January 2021

We also encourage our members to participate in this meet to help make it

successful

BOTH THESE MEETS ARE MAJOR FUNDRAISERS FOR OUR CLUB THIS SEASON

Taree Torpedoes Swim Club merchandise can be purchased through the club

Swimming caps are available on Club nights Club shirts will be available for a

subsidised fee of $15 due to a Sports NSW Grant until current stock runs out

Swim caps are available for $10

Weekly Competition

The Club conducts a weekly ldquoPointscore Competitionrdquo The aim of this competition is to improve the speed and proficiency of all swimmers Awards and trophies at the end of the year are based on an individualrsquos improvement Swimmers compete against their own previous best time

The Pointscore Competition will include all strokes and there will be overall place getters regardless of age or distance All swimmers will be awarded for their efforts throughout the season Swimmers swim in each of the Point score Competitions at the distance that is relevant to their time

SWIMMERS MUST BE IN ATTENDANCE FOR MARSHALLING BY 550 PM EACH WEEK AS COMPETITION WILL START PROMPTLY AT 600 PM

Organisation of Weekly Competition

Parentscarers are required to assist with time keeping To make our club successful it takes participation by members parents carers and swimmers We need your assistance to make our club successful

Swimmers Please Note

Upgrading will be made as soon as a swimmer meets the qualifying time for the next grade as long as the stroke is done correctly This is at the discretion of the referee

Points will be awarded in comparison with the swimmerrsquos best club time (reset at the start of each season)

Swimmers must be registered and financial members of the Club

All Swimmers distance for their events will be aligned with times on page 8

Swimmers will need to achieve the appropriate qualifying times for each stroke to be able to progress to the next distance in that stroke

Records

Attempts on Club records must be lodged (on the appropriate form) with the Referee before 545pm prior to the commencement of the Club nights program A record may only be attempted for events already listed on the program and the swimmer must be graded for the event unless it is a special record night Records will be accepted and recorded from Taree Club Championships (where 3 timekeepers are available) and any Taree Carnival held at MALC No records will be recognized in the 25m pool
