SWBAT explain political cartoons in order to analyze the impact of the Monroe Doctrine on American foreign policy

changed over the years?
Directions:• You group will be assigned to one of six
political cartoons on the Monroe Doctrine. • Analyze the cartoon and discuss the questions
on your TACOS worksheet with your group as you rotate stations.
• After analyzing the cartoon, summarize the main idea of the cartoon under the appropriate picture on your organizer.
• You will have 3-4 mins for each station.
Summary:
• What is the main goal of foreign policy in the United States?
• What did President Monroe hope to accomplish by issuing the Monroe Doctrine?
• Does Monroe’s idea/Doctrine still exist today? Examples?
Homework:
• Complete the Monroe Doctrine WS on the back of your class work.
• Lewis and Clark/War of 1812 Quiz tomorrow
