Why education is prime objective for SERF ? Literacy rate 1951-2001 - India

The literacy rate has increased from 18.33% in 1951 to 64.84% in 2001 The goals of the National Literacy Mission have been to attain full literacy, i.e.,

a sustainable threshold level of 75 percent. The basic is to create a generation which will ensure that the children
