TEMPUS IV – General OverviewTEMPUS IV – General Overview

TEMPUS is the European Community Programme for the development of Higher Education in Partner Countries

Basic features:Establishment of new courses or reform of existing ones in the list of national prioritiesAssist higher education institutions to restructure and to reform their management/ governance Encourage institutions to work together and set up networks, in a particular disciplineTraining and capacity buildingProvide higher education institutions with teaching materials

1) CURRICULAR REFORM Adapt, modernise and restructure existing curricula with a

focus on content, structure, teaching methods and the use of modern ICT.

Establish new curricula with a double or multiple degree or a joint degree.

Strengthen links with the labour market.

2) GOVERNANCE REFORM Modernise management and governance of higher

education institutions. Build capacity for better management. Promote a quality assurance culture.

Strengthen the role of higher education institutions in society at large
