Norwegian Financial Mechanism

• Main aims: - to improve relationships Slovakia / the EU and Ukraine- to solve common problems;- to establish common coordination of policies.

• Other goals: – to intensify and improve the transformational process in Ukraine,

preparing it for membership in international institutions and international organizations;

– to create conditions for the expert and academic researches in the border areas of Ukraine and Slovakia;

– to improve public awareness about current state and problems in relations between Slovakia / the EU and Ukraine.

DURATION AND AIMS

• Duration - year and a half (September 2009 – March 2011)

RESEARCH TOPICS AND TARGET GROUPS

Main Research Topics:• Schengen and external EU border;• European Neighbourhood Policy;• energy dialogue;• regional development and cross-border cooperation;• European security, NATO and Ukraine.

Target groups• representatives of state and local governments;• businessmen;• scientists and experts;• representatives of nongovernmental organizations;• journalists;• students and youth.
